American studies and History

I'm 90% sure I am applying for American Studies and History at Nottingham. I absolutely love english literature so I hope it's the right course for me. However, I have some doubts as to whether it would be respected or not (especially as Nottingham is such a good university).

Any information about the course at Notts or just in general would be appreciated.

I'm also considering History and Philosophy at either Leeds or Sheffield so any info on that would also be useful.
