Why do muslims feel the need to think everyone is against them and is ignorant?
Like the title says, I created this thread in response to this thread of pure idiocy:

    http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=1570117

I could not help but see the amount of ludicrous comments talking about how people "hate Islam" and everyone who isn't Islamic is "ignorant" and for some reason if you disagree with Islam you must be "hating on Muslims/racist". As if no one can be intelligent and question the faith without "hating" or being "ignorant".

Self righteous nonsense like that thread almost implies that that for some reason not agree or criticise Islam or muslims, we are "ignorant" or that Islam, if you understand it properly will magically reveal that it is the epitome of truth and everyone will love it and no one would have any qualms :facepalm2:

It doesn't matter if Islam is spreading, that honestly has nothing to do with the coherence or morality of a religious ideal. Scientology and Jedi is spreading, if it got to the point where it was in the law and responsible for deaths etc it would meet the same criticism, as any religion would. It isn't racism, or the "media bandwagon" it is what is in the world today. Perhaps the teachings in Islam aren't to blame, but certainly the people in the world committing crimes are, naturally their basis and motive being Islam will mean Islam will be the point of discussion.

So, get over it, its not "the world vs Islam" its coherence and morality vs a dominating ideal.

Because they fear just criticism. They want to protect their ridiculous religion by hiding it in an opaque, irreproachable bubble that is constantly spewing out accusations of racism and islamophobia and intolerance to anyone within spitting distance.

An interesting quote in this regard from the other thread. While I wouldn't be as keen to include "most D&D Muslims", his points do apply to, for example, the OP of the other thread.

Mind you, it's really hard to take seriously when the same guy who refuses to address the most blatant evidence against his claims decides to call other people "ignorant idiots".

The answer is mainly that this is a forum for debate, and that as often that not, Muslims like the OP start the very topics encouraging others to question them...
I'm not the only one who noticed that then?

Muslims have to defend their faith for a reason. Unfortunately most of the Muslims here will not listen to any argument against their faith.

As stated above, this is a debate.

I moderated a Debates and Discussion forum for a year on another forum. I met many Christian equivelents to the Muslims in this thread. Even so, at least they would listen and accept the many faults of their faith. That is what a debate is all about. Not the mass denial that I see here.

Re: Why do muslims feel the need to think everyone is against them and is ignorant?
I am a Muslim and I do not think everyone is against me and is ignorant.

Only those who make unfounded claims/criticisms of the religion and then hide away when we try to explain it or those who take random quotes without context and then make a thread about how evil Islam is etc etc.

If you want to learn about the religion that I follow then it is my duty to teach you. If you just want to make silly claims and then either not reply or go off on a tangent then I will not bother as I would consider you to be one of the "ignorant" ones.

I have no problem debating and discussing Islam but many people here have pre-concieved and narrow-minded views on the religion and do not genuinely wish to learn about it which is what I think led to imzir making that thread. It is not hard to find all those threads which have been done a thousand times with the topic of each having already been addressed but then people carrying on spreading their "ignorance".

People will differ in their beliefs and that's all well and good. Muslims will defend their religion and others will defend their own beliefs. It works both ways - Muslims should want to teach the others of their reigion and the others should question the Muslim's defence but it should all be constructive.
