Theoretical Physics, which uni?

Hi I'm looking to study theoretical physics and i have got offers from Durham, imperial, st andrews and birmingham. Id have thought the course at imperial was the best but im not keen on living in london. I'm swaying towards durham but i am just wondering which of these universities offers the best course?
My brother done his MPhys (they called it MSc) Physics at Durham. Lovely university. He got a 1st, however was **** at theoretical physics, apparently it's ridiculously hard.. and believe me he studied every day like his exams were tomorrow! never seen anything like it

I on the other hand am off to Lancaster University to study Physics... I'm thinking Physics, with particle physics and cosmology, but I'm undecided on my year 2 modules.

Yeah i kinda new what i was getting myself into, the difficulty of it drew me to it to be honest

As you said imperial probably has the best course of all of those, but if you dont want to live in London then I would highly recommend Durham, im currently a 2nd year physicist at Durham so I am somewhat biased but if you have any questions about the course just ask.

One thing to bear in mind is that in Durham you dont specialise until 3rd year , so you do 2 years of general physics and then pick up all the theoretical and maths modules in 3rd year.
