    M36 - Tobacco Packaging Motion
M36 - Tobacco Packaging Motion, Ham and CheeseThis House welcomes the recommendations from the World Health Organisation (WHO) calling for a ban which requires all tobacco manufacturers to drop all colour and branding logos from cigarette packaging. This House recognises the negative health effects of smoking and the duty of the Government to discourage people from consuming this product. This House supports the idea of having all tobacco sold with government warnings, both graphical and written, on the packaging.

No. It's tokenism, it's nannying, it's nudging, it's not what governments should be doing.

I agree with Adam 100% on this one. Unfortunately, I +repped him too recently to cancel out a needless neg.

No. The idea is that the packaging appeals to young people, right? Well, making it 'naughty' and hiding it under the counter, so to speak, will make it more appealing.

    Sure why not.

We have all these economic problems, but pathetic symbolism is more important.

So essentially you're asking for near-homogeneous goods in a white box with govt sticker on it?
What's with all these PMB (Ham and Cheese) motions being waffled out to the House? :facepalm2:

I forever oppose the progressing infantilisation of people old enough to make their own choices without saggy-faced suits stepping in. So no.

    Shame on you.

In practical terms, I don't care. I know what they're selling, I've got a cigarette case, stick it up your arse.

Ban it immediately, it does nothing for the good of society and is a massive drain on the NHS
