Ask for an extension of the reply-deadline?

Hi there,

I am in a real dilemma. Applied very early
(December 2010). Got an unconditional
offer on the 21st of January.

problem:
In the letter it says you have to reply within
3 MONTHS, otherwise, the university could
withdraw the offer. That means I have to
reply by 21 APRIL at the latest!!!

dilemma:
I am still waiting for another university to
reply (regarding the conditions of their
conditional offer) and they take ages... I
fear that the problem will not be solved
prior to Sheffield´s deadline!!!!!

What do I do?

Should I ask Sheffield for more time, explaining
the situation (that I was an early applicant etc)?

Any advice would be very welcome!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much.....

December isn't early; most people send their stuff off earlier, in November or so. You're only missing out on 2 weeks, everybody else has to reply by 5th May, so you'll probably going to get your reply before then. Don't panic.

I wouldn't worry, here is what I would do. If you have NOT heard by April 18th from this other university, then accept Sheffield. :P
