Imperial college halls

Hi everyone, as an international student wanting to attend imperial, i would really appreciate your wise help. I think that I am going for self.catered. I thinK (though correct me plz if i am wrong), that having cereal and juice in the morning, then eating around 2pm in the union and having pasta at night would be sufficiently simple and give me greater flexibility. I've also heard that food at linstead hall is pretty bad....

regarding the socialising part, do u think that is really important factor for choosing catered, i think imperial has the greatest number of sports and associations so that's a good way to meet mates and girls. plz tell me what you think..
if you could recommend me any halls at imperial, i'd recommend it! btw, i'm going for biochem.

thanx a lot

my name is mina and i'm still 17...but i'll turn 18 just before i leave for imperial...well, to tell you the truth, i'm actually gonna read biotech, but it's really all the same except for the last year...hmm, which area interests me most? i don't have a specific answer to that, i think i'm still trying to find out. if i knew, i doubt i would study it  anyhow, peru sure is a loooooong way from london! for me it will be cool bcause it's just a 1-hour flight back home...yay!! but as long as you don't mind...coz i really didn't want to go too far away from home. i'd miss my parents & brother too much

I went self catered when I was 1st year - i was at Beit Hall, the one they recently done up, next to the Royal Albert Hall. It was really good. I don't think it makes much difference if you are catered or not for socialising. In self catered you get more flexability about what and when to eat, and the facilities in Beit are excellent.

Beit Hall is apparently the best accomodation at Imperial (I think to be assigned a room in Beit Hall you must choose a preference of a single room, ensuited, self-catered... I think, I'm not positive). My brother is presently staying there and the facilities really are fab. As for socialising, I don't think it makes a big difference either. Maybe it is easier to bond with people if you are self-catered as you cook and eat together with your friends so you get quite close - my brother and his friends get together every week to cook a huge sunday lunch

Hi mina.. thanx for replying. yeah peru is very far away from london but i think that at imperial i'll get a good education on the area I enjoy so i'm pretty excited, and also plan to return during the holdiays, at least the first ones..
it would be cool if you could give me ur msn messenger (hotmail) or other e-mail to stay in touch.
take care,
sebastian
