A List of people you can skype for practice speaking a language!

Keep Signing Up! And don't forget to look at the list from time to time to find other people to practice with ^_^

I was thinking how important it is to actually practice speaking rather than just write out notes etc and how boring/slightly unstable it is to sit all day talking to yourself so I thought I would create a thread where members of TSR who want to practice for their speaking exams can talk on skype!

Note - you don't have to go on webcam or anything- Just normal speaking will do ^_^
Be brave! Sign up! Practice! Get better marks! (hopefully!)

To Sign Up:
Post the language/languages you want to practice, your level e.g. AS level and I'll add you to the list! If you're fluent/grew up there/speak it at home/etc please say so too

Then -
Simply PM those on the list for their skype name. (I thought this would be a bit safer rather than broadcasting the skype names to the whole of the internet) If you're seeking help then it may be quicker for you to PM those already on the list as well as adding yourself to it and hoping to be contacted! ^_^

**New** To find members follow http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/memberlist.php?do=search and then paste their name. You'll then be able to click on their name to skype them (rather than searching through the thread etc) Simples! ^_^

Changes to the list:

Fluency, just under Mastery which is C2.

Thanks ^_^ So "basically fluent" would pretty much fit? I'm guessing that most people won't know the levels so I've generally been either writing fluent, university or mother tongue if they're not at A level etc because it makes things a little more simple.

Speaking of revision etc if anyone wants to go on skype in french I'd be very grateful! I feel like I've done no speaking revision for the speaking exam at all which is a bit of a worry >_< PM me for the skype name if you're not busy

Yeah, I guess.

You might want to have a look to these links and add them to the OP and maybe ask people to self-assess them using the second link as well?

Hey, you could improve the thread by putting the profile link of everyone in your list so it's easier to find them - if you get what I mean.

I wanted to find this AS French speaker on your list, but I had to flick through several pages to actually find the name of the person. erm, I'll help you out, hold on =)

That's a good idea, however I think a better formatting would be too add the links to the profile name like this:

emzaz - A2 level

Makes it clearer. Also, I don't think numbers are useful.

The number thing just makes it easier for me to look at, not really sure why - it looks neater no? =/

I didn't know how to make the profile link name thing

I have 2 French speaking exams, one is tomorrow, and another one is on wednesday (my teacher hurt her leg so we couldn't take the exam a few weeks ago).

I've finished writing the first one up, I just need to memorise it. The second one, I haven't even started writing it up, nevermind memorising to speak it =/

I'm going to pm people my work after I finish it, and ask for corrections, then I'll go on skype with some people

I dunno. It doesn't help me at all and as a matter of fact, I'm afraid some would associate it with a ranking, which is not what we want.
Select the text to become a link, then click on the button with a globe and a chain link, finally input the link adress.

You should probably make your own thread or post your work in the French Learner's Soc instead of PMing people, you should get a faster reply then.

.

I'm wondering whether you shouldn't create an actual society for this.
I think you would then also be able to clean the thread of the post asking to join which are useless in themselves, so that the thread consists only of suggestions, skype convo feedback and whatnot. What do you think?
Hi, this looks really useful! I'm doing AS level spanish and my speaking exam is in a week, so it would be really useful to practice.
i'm fluent in brazilian portuguese and want to improve my english and my spanish..so if anyone have time, lets chat
