Re: Golf Thread
1)Yes
2) At a variety of 9 hole courses, and no idea... I would estimate about 20. I'm just about good enough to get round a full sized course without it being a total embarassment.
3) My uncle's old set of clubs
4) Not being quite so terrible.. my putting is probably the only thing that doesn't need a lot of work. I only very rarely 3 putt, which is a good job, considering its normally taken me 4 shots just to find the green. -
Re: Golf ThreadYepp, that were funny, you have a look at some professionals and tell me they aren't athletes, it requires a lot more skill than most sports.(Original post by JohnC2211)
This is the "Sport" forum. -
Re: Golf ThreadSummer is the best, when you can fit 36 holes in one day!(Original post by Joist)
Used to play but don't have the time any more. Would like to get back into it over the summer though, as I really enjoy it.
Very much looking forward to the Masters next week.

Same here, I fancy Tiger, but that is a long shot. I think Donald may bring it home for the Brits this year, I don't think Kaymer can handle the heat IMHO.

Re: Golf ThreadI'm a Tiger fan, I would like to see him win the maters but he probably won't win another major. I have to disagree with Donald and Kaymer though, I think Kaymer has more chance of winning seeing as though he's already a major winner. I have to give a shout out to Bubba Watson though, he's going to have two/three good rounds but flop on the final day. Rose and Casey are two I'd like to see do well, Rose will have two great rounds and then fall off completely as usual and Casey is indifferent (I'm not sure which Casey will turn up).(Original post by 3309will)

Front runners for me are: Mickelson, Watson, Westwood and Kaymer. Out of those I want Westwood to win.
Not many golf fans on TSR then. -
Re: Golf ThreadHad what was probably far too big a bet on Woods at 12/1 last night. Forget the name and he has an unbelievable record at the course and looks to be coming into form at the right time.(Original post by littlehobbit)
Hey guys
who are all your bets for the Masters? I've got the majority of the english players in my list, although i think McIlroy could do something good!
I've backed YE Yang and Dustin Johnson as well.
Justin Rose looks the best of the English lads to me. -
Re: Golf Thread
I thought the Masters was starting at half 7 when the Sky Sports coverage was coming on lol? I thought they had full coverage for the tournament from the BBC. But anyways, McIlroy's leading.
Golf's a sport I've started to watch recently, having watched a few tournaments and the Ryder Cups. The closest thing I've come to playing is on Tiger Woods' PGA games on the miserably out dated PS2 lol. I've wanted to start playing but no friends are interested in the game so don't want to be an embarrasing loner at the range.
For the Masters besides the favourites, I'm going to go for the Matt Damon lookalike that is Paul Casey. He plays on PGA Tour and is consistent with Luke Donald as personal second fave. -
Re: Golf Thread
Used to play but I haven't since I moved to the city. Used to play off of 18 so I knew how to play but never really became good enough to take it seriously.
I love playing though and hopefully I will again one day.
With regards to the Masters, looks like its going to be a great tournament. I hope Mcilroy does well, and all the English players too. Would love to see Justin Rose win something big or Luke Donald. I wouldn't complain if Tiger came back though either and won it. -
Re: Golf Thread
McIlroy's 12 under and on course to win a Major at 21 years of age! Long way to go obviously but I saw his score when he was 10 under and thought possibly he might lose some shots but did well at the end. Shame Tiger didn't do well today, had he done, then a Tiger vs. Rory battle would have been great to see.

Re: Golf ThreadNever say never, it could still happen, I'm habouring hopes that Tiger will make a good start. It looks as though McIlroy will take it, Cabrera has done well to make it up the leaderboard, he's also got a good chance being a previous winner as well.(Original post by Aky786UK)

Re: Golf Thread1. I play, normally get a round of golf in a week during spring/summer(Original post by 3309will)
How many people play golf here on TSR?
Where do you play and what do you play off?
What's in the bag?
Anything you are working on for the new season?
I love golf and I thought it would be pretty cool to see who else plays on here.

2. I play at my local 18 holer, 1 round a week with driving range each day (1hr) and practice greens for 30mins
(1:30 hrs a day, I put more into golf than I do my college work
3. I have everything one would need for a great round of golf in my bag, bloody heavy though
looking at getting some custom made ones next month as the current clubs are causing me problems (height wise).
4. Not really working for anything other than get my handicap down as +7 is a disgrace although I am still pretty new to the local course
I want Tiger to win The Masters ($50 on him winning) but I am beginning to doubt he will do it, but I hope he does
