Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature BIf it does come up, just pick one poem and analyse the hell out of it!(Original post by Perseverance)
Same, I was thinking along the lines of conveying his emotions but it seems too general.

Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature B
Right, to be quite honest I haven't done as much revision as I'd hoped for English because I've prioritized other subjects instead.
The exam is tomorrow, at 9am.
I have four piles of papers neatly placed on my bed, in the following order:
'Past Papers'
'Small Island notes'
'General notes/tips on unit 1 paper'
'Thomas Hardy poetry notes'
Okay, I have got a few york notes books on Hardy poetry and Charles Dickens' Great Expectations.
I'm probably gonna have to watch the film and read through the york notes book for G/E as there's no time to re read the book.
Will I be able to revise the whole course with the resources I have available, enough to gain a C or above in tomorrow's exam, starting from now until like 2am?
Just need the motivation!

Thanks.

Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature BHardy, the best are The Voice and At Castle Boterel for beginnings.(Original post by Perseverance)
How would you talk about openings for the poems? In terms of having a specific purpose for them?
I'm doing Browning and Hardy
just talk about the sentence structure, the use of the personal pronoun, contrast and comparison between the beginning and the middle, the creation of a setting, creation of characters and emotion, use of setting as characterisation eg in CB, it says 'drizzle'. also the ambiguity of the narrator is intreguing for the reader.
i HOPE beginnings are going to come up, totally screwed if they dont. -
Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature BLook at your notes (forget the past papers for now). Don't bother watching the film, read an internet summary instead. Familiarise yourself with the assessment objectives for each question. Good luck!(Original post by awais590)

Just need to work on Tennyson right now, feel like I know nothing about his stuff! -
Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature BRossetti -(Original post by <3 inbetweener =D)
what are some examples of symbolism in Rossetti/Hardy?
Goblin Market - biblical references, 'forbidden fruit' - fall of man?
Winter: My Secret - is she pregnant?
The Convent Threshold - losing virginity
that help?
I'm stuck myself

Got myself really worked up about it this weekend; can't think how to prepare! I found this to be really helpful, not sure if it's already been posted (apologies if it has) - http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=873067
Enduring Love
Kite Runner
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Keats - when the question asks about Keats/various poems by one poet do you respond based on one poem or all 3?!
Best of luck everyone

Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature BRight cheers, does that include the Choric Song as well?(Original post by lampshade1)
Lotos-eaters is the only Tennyson poem not to have been asked yet and for Section B openings is being thrown around as an option -
Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature BYeah sorry I just shortened the title(Original post by Ttawwab)

Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature BI reckon it's a lot easier to do poetry for section A. Far easier to hit the language, form and structure marks. I'd advise doing poetry, that's what I'm doing anyhow. Good luck!(Original post by Karsect)
Ive revised Great Gatsby for section A. Not much mind you but meh. Ive just heard that its easier to do poetry in Ection A. What shall I do? :P I'm really burnt out atm, been revising all day and just cant think striaght anymore. im SO screwed.

Re: AQA- English Literature at AS Level, Literature B
For the exam tomorrow on the front of the paper it says "In your response to this paper you must write about four different texts: two prose and two poetry texts." Does anyone know what they mean by text when talking about poetry? Do they mean a whole collection of poems by Hardy for example or one poem like "the darkling thrush"?
any help by someone doing Rossetti, I'm getting so stressed out right now
