Can anyone recommend me a setting lotion?

I'm looking for a good setting lotion that won't make my hair go all stiff and crunchy but will help keep curls. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I hear recommendations for Lottabody setting lotion by all the vintage blogs and vlogs I read/watch. I think it's a classic.

Thanks but it looks like its American, and even on eBay it'd cost almost £20 in postage :frown:

It's alright, I found it on a UK site too, which I think has normal priced postage. I checked for deliveries info and it says it depends on weight, and is just normal royal mail postage

It's only £2.80 too, that's good!

Or there's this one, which is a US site but ships for £2.99

Or this one, which is also a US site but does international shipping from £2 (and for just one thing it probably would be £2)

Thanks! I did have a look but couldn't find anything! Time to get this vintage hair going. I have bum length hair so 50s styles are really hard :frown:

let me know how you get on. i'm also trying to get vintage hair curls. I tried to do pin curls (from wet) on just over shoulder length hair and it looked ****. My hair is thick so I think thats why it looks bad. Now i've had it cut to chin length and i've not tried pin curls again yet

Wow, with hair that long I'm surprised you can get curls to stay in! My hair's quite long and most styles fall out, but pin curls stayed for 24 hours at least. I'm thinking of trying rag curls next, apparently they stay for AGES
Good luck!

I manage to do OK with hair straighteners but it just doesn't last. Rag curls work really well too but they take ages (I also have incredibly thick hair, down to my waist, it takes about 20 normal rollers to cover my whole head!)

With chin length hair the curls will probably be gorgeous! My favourite vintage blogger has just below chin length hair and I'm always jealous of her beautiful pincurls

The thing about rag curls thats good is that you can get different types of curls depending on how you put them in. Plus they don't hurt to sleep on. But then again its quite hard to get the right curl without trial and errors, first time I did it I ended up gorgeous wavy beach hair... not exactly what I was after but it still looked nice!

Yeah, I'm not quite sure exactly how you do rag curls, like how you tie them/how you twist the hair, and I'm a bit scared of getting ringlets like wendy from peter pan! But it's the holidays and I'm revising, not going anywhere, so I can experiment

You can't see them that well but I did manage to do rag curls to get curls but I only did it on the length of hair, not on the top and it worked quite well:

This is rollers but they don't stay AT ALL for me because the weight of the hair pulls them:

She's done a few tutorials, including one for rag curls and a recent one (like in the last couple of weeks?) about how she does pincurls for 1940's hair, and then how she styles it the next day. I love her style, she's gorgeous. Then I found some good random youtube tutorials as well, but I didn't save the links :frown:

And this was ages ago but this was when I didn't do the rag curls big enough so they went a bit beachy:

I do, http://pinksalamander.wordpress.com/, but I don't post about vintage fashion and stuff that often (although there are a few sewing projects on there!)

I have one on livejournal, http://astarael02.livejournal.com but there's nothing vintage-related on there yet, it's mostly about TV and books I like, paintings and craft projects and life in general. Once I finish my thesis I'll be updating it more though! I want to learn how to make clothes so I'll probably be posting pictures etc

I'll check out both of your blogs!
