Hello and Welcome to :tsr:

If you are new to the forum, why not start a thread here in the Welcome Lounge and introduce yourself? Don't be shy - everyone was new once! However, before you go ahead and post, please take a look at the full forum list to see if your thread would be better placed elsewhere. If you post in the wrong forum, you'll probably find that the thread is moved to a more appropriate place, but you can always find the thread by using the search links on your profile page.

To create a new thread, click on the "Create New Thread" button at the top-left of the thread list.

Resources and Guidelines

If you haven't already, it's worth having a look at the FAQs and the TSR Welcome Pack, which will answer most of the questions you might have about the website and how things work here. It's also a good idea to have a look at the rules.

If you've read the links above and you still have questions, then the best place to ask is in the TSR News, Help and Feedback. If you have a question regarding a moderation issue, please post in Ask A Moderator and a staff member will get back to you. Please do not send a private message (PM) to moderators about issues to do with moderation.

We won't dwell on this for too long here, but we'd like to highlight a few posting guidelines that you might not be aware of, as an extract from the full rules:
  • Please try to keep your posts 'on topic' within a thread. If you'd like to have an conversation with another member outside of the main thread topic, you can send a private message to them by clicking on their username above their post and choosing the appropriate option.
  • 'Text speak' is not allowed on TSR. Please type out your posts in full.
  • If you use foreign languages in your post, please provide an English translation. The only exceptions to this rule are the International Lounge and the Foreign Languages Study Help forums.
  • Please don't post your email address publicly (i.e., within a post). You may however enter your email address in the email field in your user profile. This is for your own protection, as publicly posting your email address could result in your address being picked up by third parties against your knowledge.

Social Groups

A great way to meet people on TSR is to join a social group. Social groups on TSR allow members to join and, if necessary, create groups for a very wide range of different interests. There are loads to choose from and you are sure to find one that takes your fancy (or you can even create your own if you don't find one that's suitable!). An alphabetical list of all social groups can be found here as well as a list organised by category (TV, music, sport, fashion and beauty etc).

To join a group, just click "Join Group" on the right hand side next to the name of the group, then click through to confirm that you want to join the group. Some groups are 'moderated' and you'll need to wait for the group leader to accept your request, but this shouldn't take too long. You can view a list of associated threads from the group summary page where you can chat with like-minded members about your chosen interests. If you have any questions, the FAQ has a section dedicated to social groups here.
