You won't be, I know quite a few people who are going that havn't climbed above 6b. They are just going for the fun of it, (give of take a bit of peer pressure). A bunch of the guys here tried to rope me into going, but I don't feel like I'm fit enough.
Ahh, fair enough. But now I'm a dirty dropout I can't represent Newcastle. I'd have to sneak in.

I'm moving back home on weds so i'm gonna go bouldering in widdop, its supposed to be pretty awesome, and not far to cycle

Just been bouldering at Earl Crag, wont be going back without a mat. 25-30ft solos (go me) on some of the nices routes. Theres good bouldering there, but it gets a bit wet. All the more reason to take a mat.

Who's going to sheffield next weekend?
I went to BUCs! So glad i was in the first group because the holds were getting so greasy by the end. Wasn't sure about the range of routes there but really enjoyed it!

Ah I feel your pain, I've gotten soaked walking to lectures all week. I keep thinking, surely there is a limit to the amount of water that the damn sky can hold, but clearly not.

To cheer myself up, I like to think about the local crag this summer

South of Spain. I lived there for 6 years before moving to the UK to study. It's about 35min from where I live, and the shorter wall is 180m and I'm not sure about the bigger one. If you're ever around Granada let me know.

There is a 6c with the worlds most amazing hold, you can get your whole arm around it. And therei's an 8a with a section with 6 mono pockets in a row.

Got two weeks multipitching and sport climbign int he Alps coming uip in August with cadets though, so should be a good summer

Nice to see that there are other climbers around everywhere I look

Any budding boulderers in TSR? I haven't been bouldering for that long, but am really enjoying the challenge and mastering the techniques. It's rapidly becoming a bit of an addiction to be honest, but I love the achy feeling of knowing I've been pushing my body! I go to CREATION in Birmingham. Anyone else familiar with this place?

Never compare yourself to other people when climbing. Your progress is amazing.

Hopefully you'll have had a great time.

I quite like bouldering, it can feel a little bit more relaxing in the way that it's easier to be social at the same time. Personally I haven't been to CREATION but it looks cool, would you recommend it? Have you heard about the climbing station opening in Loughborough?

This summer has been pretty depressing for me regarding climbing, but soon I am getting to see some guys from the University climbing club, so that should improve things.

I've been climbing/bouldering since March this year, so nearly 6 months. Haven't yet done any lead climbing, but I'm doing all 5s comfortably, and 6as with a lot of effort (hahah) at my climbing centre. I'm really not sure what scale they're using. (Manchester Climbing Centre - If I'm remembering correctly, they have 3s/4s, 5a/5b/5c, 6a/6b/6c, 7a/7b/7c and some have + to signify a complex move)

Love bouldering, but I'm always scared about falling/landing wrong, or jumping from the height. I just try to climb back down as often as possible xD I'm on the pinks which is the lowest in the scale at MCC, but I'm still struggling with them at times because of my strength. I find it really hard to do the hanging ones. I always manage them in a couple of goes though. Can do a few blacks too, which is the next step up.

I'm a little worried about Uni though because I won't be able to go regularly! I'm just hoping there's a club or something up there - I think there will be seeing as I'll be near the Lake District... I know there are no indoor climbing centres near me though D:

I loooove bouldering, I find it's really testing my strength and stamina, and I've made friends with a lot of people there because like you said, it's really sociable as you're resting on the mats a lot and also helping eachother work out how to do their routes. I'm also surprised at my rate of improvement, although I feel sometimes my height (I'm 5"2) hampers me slightly as I have to do twice as many moves to reach the top compared to my bear like boyfriend. I haven't heard about one in Loughborough no! Do you know when it's coming?

It's opening today as far as I am aware. You should have a look for them on facebook, it looks pretty cool to be honest. Unfortunately I am not back in England yet, so I have no personal opinion yet.
There should also be a Youtube video.

Going bouldering today in the Chamonix valley in a few mins, looking forward to a nice long session of clambering about.

Hoping to get pretty good outdoors over the next 8 months that I'm living in Chamonix

I've had the summer off climbing =/ I've wanted to climb but no climbing partners where I live.

Also, just out of curiosity, does it matter what chalk bag you buy or what brand you recommend ? I've got a chalk ball for signing up to rock climbing this year so yeah, need a chalk bag.

It doesn't really matter what you get, just make sure you can fit your hands in comfortably.
I had a DMM one up until a few days ago, when I was given a nice one that had been hand made in Bolivia (I think).

I really dislike chalk balls, but some people find them far better than loose chalk. I admit that knocking your bag on an over hang and having a ton of loose chalk go all over you is not great.

Argh, went climbing inside today... turns out i've dropped about 10 grades. I was making a real mess of some 6a/b's. I had been working out through the day, but that's no excuse.
I've completely forgotten how to use my feet, which is causing me to spend too much energy on my arms when i cut off on overhangs.

I have all winter to improve and by god i'm going to need it.

    Re: TSR Climbers Thread
Been nout on this thread in ages - my climbing has been pretty **** this winter, as the weather has been shyte and I now live nowhere near an indoor climbing gym. It's does get very depressing as I've lost so much of my strength. Most climbing I've done in the last 2 months was climbing onto our garage to put christmas lights up which I reckon was going at about V3 made it into a dyno, but I dare not go out and do it all the time because I live in a small cul-de-sac and my neighbors would think I'm mental. Anywho, with all this talk about snow heading our way I do hope to get out to Ogwen and get some winter routes in, that is if it stays cold enough and we get decent snow coverage. I would have made a trip up to Scotland but my funds aren't what they used to be, can't wait until summer now so that I can be climbing and working in Swissland again Peace out B*****s.
