Re: TSR Climbers ThreadCheers for this will give it a try and see if I can benefit from it(Original post by Occlusal)
Traverse sessions X4 a week for a month and you will see a big improvement. (about 1-2 grades on long endurance climbs in my experience)
Try to make each session as long as possible (2hrs+) and try to rest as much as possible on the wall (find kneebars, bat hangs, fist jams, arm bars etc) so you can spent as much time as possible actually on the wall.
I did this when I was younger cos my dad wouldn't let me do too much strength work (so it didn't affect my growth plates etc.) Now I have really good endurance and can find rests everywhere. I just need more strength, but who doesn't
Could certainly do with improving my ability to find rests this certainly limits me on very sustained routes!
Indeed and endless supply of strength would be nice!

Re: TSR Climbers ThreadOuch lol I get calluses on my hands quite a bit, but a bit of fine grade sandpaper just to sand them down (gently) works wonders(Original post by Occlusal)

Re: TSR Climbers ThreadYou guys should try heavy duty moisturiser. But once I used it and then went bouldering and my skin just peeled...... there was skin and blood all over the holds.(Original post by dipless)

I use a special recovery thing that my ex brought me and to be honest it is awesome! Really helps. I get cuts a lot anyway so use to a bit of blood!

Re: TSR Climbers ThreadJust walk, although there was a lot of scrambling up some slatey stuff, I don't do proper climbing, as in with ropes etc.(Original post by james-brown28)

Re: TSR Climbers ThreadYou should defo start again. I've only climbed 6a+ outdoor sport. So you're already awesome(Original post by S_123)
I've done a bit of climbing but it was all indoors. I used to go to lessons for 2 hours once a week last year but had to stop this year due to extra work, etc. I got up to a 6a indoors I think but further than that was difficult since I'm not particularly strong and have very short limbs
I'd like to restart climbing actually. It's really fun
Also, climbers are sexy

Re: TSR Climbers ThreadShades are definately the dogs b*****ks(Original post by james-brown28)
Sorting a belay (the protection was adsolute w*nk)

And a walk in:

Shades = essential climbing equipment

I'll upload some photo's of my TR'ing my first E3 this evening!
The protection looks not too bad... but you only have 1 bit of pro in.... so couldn't have been that good
But the angle of the rock looks very comfortable!

Re: TSR Climbers Thread
I don't get much time to do it myself, but do instruct it in my spare time, along with mountaineering.
Not much where I live mind, Flintshire. There's a few things around, especially in Clwydian, but looking at Snowdonia for the odd climb really.
Not sure whether I'm a fan of indoor climbing or not. I enjoy bouldering indoors for the simplicity of mats etc, but it's extremely difficult to make a realistic indoor climbing wall. It just doesn't feel the same! -
Re: TSR Climbers ThreadI've got a beastmaker 1000. I would definately reccommend it. Kind to the skin and perfect size and shape holds imo(Original post by dipless)
I haven't used them much yet! Am thinking of getting me a Beastmaker 1000 any thoughts?
I like running gets me out can clear my head and just go which is nice and I really don't worry about peeps watching!
Oh cool where did you graduate from? Oooooh 5 months traveling sounds wonderful, where did you visit?

Re: TSR Climbers ThreadI've got two other bits of pro in out of shot, but there was very little pro in general.(Original post by dipless)

The rock was just off of vert believe it or not. Not as slabby as it looks. (tilt the picture diagonaly and thats what it was like. the camera was on a tilt which makes it look less steep)
Here's a pic of that pitch (note the single bit of pro! good job it was only diff
):

Re: TSR Climbers Threadi used to climb a lot before i started university but not got the time to travel 5 miles to bouldersUK in cardiff :'((Original post by dipless)
Just thought i'd create a thread for all those climbers and potential climbers here at TSR.
I have been climbing about a year and am currently climbing
indoors Toprope 7a+/7b
indoors Lead 6c (did my first 6c+ today) and boy oh boy was it Crimpy!
outdoors sport 6b+
Outdoors Trad E2 on a good day depending on protection
Boldouring depends on how pumped but abound V4-V5 ish
My favourite places to climb in include Portland, The Roaches, Peaks and A small place called Trevor.
Got back froma week of climbing in Cyprus where I did my first 6c onsight outside so was really pleased with that.
Please feel free to share any stories, advice on Crags, routes and anything else about climbing on here.
will get back into climbing during the holidays,
i was V6 indoors and not done any outdoors.
know any good climbing spots outdoors in the lancashire area when i return home for the summer? -
