How can I get SF to consider the tax year 2010-2011 instead of 2009-2010?

I'm applying for student finance 2011-2012 entry my mother earned more in 2009-2010 than previous years (due to contract work). The tax year just passed 2010-2011 her employment has been all over the place and the total should certainly qualify me for the full amount of student finance.

Tax years
2008-2009 roughly £22000
2009-2010 roughly £30000
2010-2011 Not sure but she worked in the US for 3 months had 2 months worth of work in the UK and for the rest she was unemployed!!! So certainly way under £25000!
(she is also currently unemployed)

The only similar problem I can find is this person http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1575829
On the thread someone says that I can get considered for the tax year 2010-2011 but I don't know how.
Please if anyone can work out how because it would mean a whole £1000 more in maintenance grant :colondollar:

You can't.
You either get assessed 2009-10 or you get a current year 2011-12 assessment.
No other choice.

You can't do it for 10/11. If you know what your expected income is for 2011/2012 and it is 15% lower than 2009/2010 then you can fill out a current year income assessment form, the link for that should be appearing here soon http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/UniversityAndHigherEducation/StudentFinance/Parentsandpartners/DG_171588

How does the current year assessment work and when can I apply for it?
You apply for funding providing the info for 2009-10 as per normal. Then when you get your assessment you download a current year assessment form and send it off. It is available now on the student finance website. I downloaded it weeks ago and sent it off. Your parents will have to estimate their income for 2011-12. They will be required to provide evidence at the end of the financial year 2012.
You will be reassessed as soon as the form is received..
