Are Asos brand desert boots even worth me spending on? I've had bad experience with Asos branded clothing in the past. And with regards to the Levi's, I'm a little apprehensive when it comes to them. I have a pair of 511's (I think?) and they retailed for £90 although I got them a little cheaper, and they don't feel like a £90 pair of jeans if you get my drift. Considering they're so much cheaper in America, I kind of think that we're getting ripped off here in the UK. But meh, if I can't find anything else I'll go for a pair. Thanks

I would spend slightly more on the shoes and less on the jeans. Expensive shoes are normally worth the extra money whereas more expensive jeans aren't. Like £70-100 on shoes and £30-50 on jeans.

As long as you don't get black shoes and pale jeans, or smart shoes and scruffy jeans then they will probably go together. Jeans are pretty versatile.
Thanks for the thumbs up, I'll take that into account

Not too badly priced either you can find decent jeans with the difference.

Alright so basically I have got £125 to spend on a decent pair of jeans, and a decent pair of footwear (desert boots, boat shoes etc anything that looks good). I'd prefer it if these jeans and shoes would go together, but if they don't it doesn't matter as I could pair them up with some other clothes that I have.

I'm aware that £125 isn't a huge amount of money, I may be able to stretch a little but not by too much. I have an NUS card if that'll make a difference.

Thanks in advance to everybody that recommends something.
I'd agree with py0alb; spend more on some decent shoes and then invest the rest in jeans.

For me, the best desert boots around are these Clarks Originals. I don't think a better looking boot exists and the quality on them is good as well. They are more expensive, but I think the outlay is worth it; if you take care of them, they can last a long time.

Their soles are made of **** and get super dirty so they won't last long with regular use. A year or 2 tops. I've seen people who've replaced the soles with a vibram one though, changes the whole look quite a bit though.

How very postmodern and chic. Must be very environmentally friendly as well.

Depends on what look you want from your boots. The crepe soles Clarks put on are the ones that the original desert boots had, or as close to it as possible. Most of the soles on a pair of desert boots should be of a similar design and material. I don't have some Clarks ones, but I do have some that I got two and a half years ago. They have a similar, if not cheaper sole. The sole is worn slightly so there is little texture and a few marks and the suede itself is dirty but apart from that, I see no problems.

They look like they could work, but they don't have that standard 'desert boot' look. If I can't find anything else I may take a punt

They look really nice actually. The only thing is that I would have prefered a darker and more versatile colour lol. But they are seriously nice. Going to do some more research, see if I get some better suggestions then weigh up my options.

Fairly sure you have to import. It works out at £72 from Amazon US with the customs taken into account.

    I never received this memo?

I always thought it was very much brand name over quality?

    Hi everyone,

I was going to purchase these (I like the colour, don't have anything similar in my wardrobe) but they're all out in my size so I was wondering if anyone has seen anything similar or where's best to look?

    Thanks

In terms of shoes - brought some suede ones a couple years back, they're faring much better than some of the others I've brought since. Also have a pair of desert boots that outlasted the more pricey topman ones that I only brought last year.

Hey, I am looking for some shorts which has striped lines going down (really small vertical lines). Something like this (although these look like boxers) :
