Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread IIIgnore mess he has weird knees and is scared of people seeing them(Original post by ACooper)
What is people's opinions on shorts above the knee. I bought these recently and I'm not sure if they look OK.
. They're fine, not my colour but it depends on what your wardrobe holds.
You don't play polo so that you can wear alpargatas, you wear them because everyone wears them - the argies, the pros, the grooms, the amateurs, and they are comfy and great (around the yard). Sorry if you are scared / poor / boring / whatever but the sport is without peer.(Original post by Hello oh)
I can't help but feel that this thread is deteriorating quickly.
Espadrilles or **** brand versions of espraidlles have never or never will be cool (and apparently look terrible) and if you feel the need to justify wearing them by playing polo.. then I will refrain from using the word C***, but feel the need to describe you as a terrible person instead.
Everything posted below is terrible also, the tanktop, shorts and buutton up leather 'shirt'especially bad. Feel free too request alternatives.
The t-shirt is absolutely fine, very basic and very versatile. You really do seem to have an anger problem.
wat(Original post by MXA92)
weird super-clique specific clothing
Evidentially different than anything else I've seen in this thread, alas, that's me :P
I suggest some solid blue leg-tight jeans, black patent heels and underneath maybe a white blouse with a riffled placket.Last edited by Redemption; 19-06-2011 at 17:23. -
Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread IIUniqlo?(Original post by I am 12)

Anyone got any suggestions for a casual jacket, that I could wear with jeans or chinos? I don't really want to wear a hoody with chinos (eww), so I thought something smarter, maybe like this?
http://www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Milita...rt=-1&clr=Blue
Its a bit expensive (for me), and I wasn't sure if it was maybe too smart? (I don't want to be known at college as the ****head who came in a blazer...) However the asos sale could make it closer to my kind of budget - up to about £45?Last edited by Appeal to reason; 20-06-2011 at 00:57. -
Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread IIOh my days. Creepers? It looks like the bastard offspring of Tokio Hotel and a Harajuku girl.(Original post by MXA92)
As far as shoes go, I absolutely love Creepers:

And 'Punk Boots', as it were:
,
Trousers; nothing less than:
,
and for shirts you'll find me wearing:

or, as I actually am wearing:

Serious respect though for walking the piss-stained roads of Essex dressed like that though, you're either crazy or blessed with gargantuan testicles. -
Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread IINot gonna lie I was battered when i posted that originally, reading back it doesn't make much sense, but my thoughts haven't changed on them. Still think they look terrible, the 'comfy and great' argument could be applied to ugg boots too no?(Original post by Redemption)

I'm not sure what you're referring too with the 'scared/poor/boring' but if you're conforming to others through fashion it's probably you that is scared/boring (obviously not poor). Polo is without peer? Is that a mistype? -
Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread IIIt isn't fashion, they are worn because they are comfortable and cheap (<£10) shoes for working with horses in. You can humanise nouns/entities and compare them as "peers". I could in proper english say that "Slaughter and May is without peer in the UK legal M&A market".(Original post by Hello oh)

You guys all have a lot of rage held about people that enjoy playing a sport. Especially the fastest ballgame in the world - essentially like a cross between hockey and rugby, played at 40mph with five hundred pound bullies. Doesn't that sound like fun? If not, why are you bothering to rage on it so much in a fashion thread? I agreed and said that alpargatas weren't fashionable - the only reason one would wear them is that they play or look after horses.(Original post by PurpleMonkeyDishwasher)
There is no practicality in wearing espadrilles. They are pauper tramp shoes. Also, polo is for *****, as has clearly been demonstrated in this thread.
That is all. -
Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread III have to ask, who are you trying to impress?(Original post by Redemption)

Also, everything you've said so far has basically been wrong. If we ought to choose what we wear based on the connotations clothing has then no one would be able to wear anything without fear of giving off the wrong impression. People wear espadrilles, boat shoes and chalk-stripe blazers because they like how they look, get over it. You'd have to be bat-**** stupid to automatically assume someone's profession, class or leisurely associations based on what they're wearing. -
Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread III think my posts have been a little confusing, i'll try post in the least angry argumentative way as to not upset you and spark a pseudo-intellectual bulls*** response. (oops)(Original post by Redemption)

I really have not a problem if you wear them and play you're sport, fair enough they might serve a purpose I don't really know or care. I'm more concerned with the fact that they've clearly hit the mainstream and have turned into a fashion. Stick a £40 price tag on a pair of shoes that look bad and will fall apart after walking down the street a few times, some genius marketing right there. -
Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread IIProbably the former, although, surprisingly enough, you'll find people more scared of us when walking in a large crowed than we are of the chav's. Different scares people, and well, in Essex, we're different.(Original post by paddy)
Serious respect though for walking the piss-stained roads of Essex dressed like that though, you're either crazy or blessed with gargantuan testicles.
I'm also respected by most people here, so (Bar the occasional comment which is to be expected and rather amusing as they think I haven't heard it x amount of times before) no one has ever 'started on me'. In fact, my next door neighbor is in a gang (hard-nut apparently *rolls eyes*), but we're good friends so it's good)

Re: The Male 'Fashion' Thread III don't know what was pseudo-intellectual about my response - you just asked me how what I said made sense and I explained it. Then we're in agreement - I originally told people to stop wearing toms because they are a ludicrous buy for £40, when anyone who looks after horses knows they can be bought for the price of a big mac meal.(Original post by Hello oh)

I was just trying to defend myself, because PMDwasher and Hello called me a khvnt for playing my sport. Is that okay?(Original post by Pendulum)
I have to ask, who are you trying to impress?
No, what I said was that stylistic choices DO come with connotations and that, like it or not, people WILL pick up on these connotations. Whether or not you want to use these, manipulate them or stick a finger up to everyone is up to the person making the choice. I don't see what is so "wrong" about that.(Original post by PurpleMonkeyDishwasher)
