Here is a link to the C3 June 10 thread, there was some good discussion and useful tips in the pages before it.

I attached the specimen paper to that thread before the exam, well worth doing as it is fairly challenging.

Re: C3 June 2011 Edexcel - Tips, model answers,Solutions in the OP(next day)
C3 January 2011 was an easy paper, hence we can expect quite a few challenging questions. Most definately a harder paper, and Trigonometry is the chapter in the book that is causing the most headache to all...There's literally a question on every chapter of the book. If you can do the Trigonometry well, you can gain an A*. Anyone attempted past questions from Jan Jun 05 06 07 08 yet? There are some questions which are very similar if you observe, there are limited ways a question can be set, examiners are'nt that inventive in Maths exams. Although it is clear that C1 M1 D1 S1 have had some very easy parts, and some never before seen questions. I guess understanding and problem solving techniques are also being examined more so now than before. If it's any consolation, alot of my friends have gained perfect scores on C4, than on C3. Although I've been told by a friend, her technique to A* in C3 was to attempt all the old P1 P2 P3 questions relevant to C3 as well as the current spec papers from 05 til most recently. Last but not least, the Review exercise and Mixed Exercise questions in the book, some of which are actual past questions. It's going to be a tough paper, just look how easy Jan11 was!? hmmm

Re: C3 June 2011 Edexcel - Tips, model answers,Solutions in the OP(next day)You're not the only one, C3 Trigonometry is the no.1 topic of conversation about C3. It is'nt impossible, but if you do every question and understand it, it becomes easy with the C3 Solomon Papers. It is also very wise to read through the Examiners Reports, it tends to highlight a detailed analysis of the common mistakes, which questions were done very well and which were not.(Original post by inspiringsoul)
hows the revision going? im so worried abt trignometry :/
What is the ruling on the A* grade?
90 UMS in C3 and C4?
OR
180 Aggregate from C3 and C4?
It is clear one can gain 70% a B in AS Maths and gain 90% overall in A2, hence only in this situation would an A be required in the A2 unit. Otherwise it is merely 480 UMS overall with 90% in C3 and C4? or Aggregate??Last edited by intellectual1; 22-05-2011 at 03:06. -

Don't know exactly how to feel about this exam. Some papers I hit nearly 100%, others I'm getting mid B grades. The trig is definitally the hardest part of the exam and the most worrying, just going to have to do tonnes and tonnes of trig questions to get good at it. -

No doubt about the Trigonometry being the hardest. What do you feel confident with? What don't you feel confident with?
