when you have pi/4 > arccosx, why does the inequality sign changes when moving the arccos the other side to: cos(pi/4) < x??

Assuming you're restricted to the interval 0 to pi, or smaller. Since cos is decreasing on the interval then.

IF x > y

Cos x < cos y.
