It means x is a real number.
It means for all real values of x

It means x is a real number.

Umm what does that mean? :s-smilie:
*I think* you'd just use the above, that xx is a real number, and then work out 3x3^x accordingly, to give you the intercept on the y-axis.

It basically means x is any normal number positive or negative. Don't worry about it it only becomes relevant later into maths when u get 'imaginary' numbers. Just see it as normal numbers

Thank you oh and you know for the graph how many should I plot?
BEcause atm I've plotted -3 to 3
and said it will never meet the X axis

Its just one of those things they put in to make it mathematically correct, you don't need to worry about it.

Because they ask for a sketch you don't have to make it detailed about the exact values, they just want the rough shape as it increases exponentially and they want you to calculate where it would cross the y axis

To sketch the graph you need to draw an exponential graph. You just draw the standard graph and mark where it crosses the y axs.
