Lets stop african immigration immediately and deport the ones who arrived here in the last decade. The unemployment rate for africans in the UK sits at something like 80% to 90%. They make an excellent contribution to the economy don't they

No, because you are agreeing with a right wing party(which the majority support) The majority of the people in this country will label themselves as moderate, hence your neg rep

no matter how you spin it, moderation to you means herd mentality. which is not the case at all.

its a weak point anyway because even if i was an extremist on other issues ( which i am not) i am still a moderate on this issue regarding mass immigration.

The current population can not be sustained. Immigrants are causing us to have a higher need for public services. If there were no immigrants there would be less doctors but also the fact there would be less patients too.
This is so funny you know that immigrants make up 40% of the nurse workforce and 1/3 of doctors here and the population is at least 85%+ white. Explain to me how effectively reducing the NHS ability by 50%+ is balanced out by the removal of 15% of the patients?

You failed to do it over last decades what led to creation of generations characterised by lack of education, unemployment and high dependancy on social security. Generations too proud to work because it was too hard or didn't give enough money...
What do you expect after leaving schools with no or poor GCSEs ?! Fantastic opportunities on your doorstep ? Immigrants filled in these jobs which seemed to be unattractive to locals. They also pay taxes, just like any other working people so others can advatage of welfare state when they need it.

Sednding away immigrants sounds to me like a policy from BNP manifesto.

Immigration may be the reason our population isn't in decline.

Immigration is the reason our nation is in decline, especially third world immigration.

We need to throw some out of the country as to make way for a new younger more educated future this being a future of real prospects and growth. Then the white indigenous and black indigenous population should be able to take control and allow immigration to reoccur but at a steady more controllable rate. Allowing mainly women to come in as there is more of a need for women in professional roles.

I also believe that this will reduce the risk of terror attacks.
If we allow more women to come in, there will also be an uneven balance of sexes in society, which is hardly fair.

I think your view is very simplistic towards immigration. Sure, those who come here simply to live off the benefits should be stopped but there are many immigrants who bring much good to our society.

    1) You would have to leave the EU(not an easy feat in the current economy) to balance the bulk of unskilled workers. Given the fact that unskilled jobs are available to British workers as well, your entire theory that somehow people in Britain would flock to these jobs to reduce unemployment once immigration was "banned" is flawed.
    2) Non-EU immigrants cannot take from public funds so the idea that the state is funding them is stupidity.
    3) Non-EU immigration for work is already quite strict in terms of policy and they pay a good amount of tax and supply skills in shortage for the economy. The problem is not policy, it is implementation at the borders. No amount of legislature and "banning" is going to work if you can't actually implement it.

On top of that if young immigrants want to claim further support such as EMA or maintanance loans or grants for university education there is a legal requirements that they must live at least three years in the UK or in one of EEA countries. As it was mentioned non-EU immigrants can't so easily take advantages from the welfare system or even enter and work in this country, they also pay full uni fees and there are no loans availible to them. And EU students' countries also pay into this massive pot which is the EU budget. New EU countries will soon cease to hold a position of those who benefit the most. There are new members which need a substantial injection of European funds.

Also remember that Brits work and live abroad in the EU and beyond, and they use the welfare system in these particular countries. This is a double edged sword. Somehow they call themselves as 'expatriates'... nice euphemism to describe immigration. If you would close UK's doors then these other countries would have to do it too. It would be a substatial hit in foreign relations and a damage to the economical ties such as trade, movement of human resources and services, technology etc. Quick and hot headed steps won't do any good. But a substational long term policy aiming at drawing young generations into work instead of pushing them into a habit of dependancy on welfare is a much better solution therefore the influx of foreign labour will decrease but it takes years to repair wha wast spoilt over the years. Spain and other countries have similar problems.

but not all immigrants are equal.

how much do the somalian immigrant community add to the uk for example?

Oh I don't know, several businessmen, politician, sports figure, media figure, Writers/novelist. Most Internet Cafes in London I've come across are owned by Somalis. A bit like how most corner shops are owned by Asians. Many Somali mens are cab drivers and Bus drivers.

    Several notable British Somalis

Mo Farah - An Athlete who holds the British road record for 10,000 metres, the British indoor record in the 3000 metres, the British track record for 5000 metres and the European indoor record for 5000 metres. On 27 July 2010 Farah won Britain's first-ever men's European gold medal at 10,000 m in a time of 28 minutes 24.99 seconds.[3] He followed this with a gold in the 5000 m, becoming the 5th athlete[clarification needed] to complete the long-distance double at the championships and the first British man to do so

Mark Hendrick - a British Labour Co-operative politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Preston since winning a by-election in 2000.

Nadifa Mohamed - A novelist. Her first novel, Black Mamba Boy (2009), is a semi-autobiographical account of her father's life in Yemen in the 1930s and 40s.[2] It won the 2010 Betty Trask Award, was short-listed for the 2010 Guardian First Book Award,[3] short-listed for the 2010 Dylan Thomas Prize,[4] short-listed for the 2010 John Llewellyn Rhys Prize,[5] and long-listed for the 2010 Orange Prize for Fiction.[6]

Poly Styrene - Who died last week, was musician, song-writer and singer, most notably in the pioneering punk rock band X-Ray Spex

Rageh Omaar - is a television news presenter and writer. Formerly, he was a BBC world affairs correspondent, where he made his name reporting from Iraq; his book Revolution Day: The Real Story of the Battle for Iraq was published in 2005. In September 2006, he moved to a new post at al-Jazeera English, where he currently presents the nightly weekday documentary series Witness

All whom I may add, were born or raised in the UK. Both Nadifa and Rageh Went to Oxford University.

    They contribute to politics....

On the representative front, however, the Somali community has become increasingly engaged in local politics.[79] Mohamed "Jimmy" Ali became the UK's first Somali councillor in 2004.[23] The incumbent mayor of Tower Hamlets, Ahmed Omer, is originally from Somalia, the first to be appointed to office in London and the country when he assumed office in 2009.[80] Mark Hendrick, who is partly of Somali descent, previously served as a member of the European Parliament before being elected a Labour Co-operative Member of Parliament for Preston in a by-election in 2000.[81][82] Around 17 Somali candidates also stood in the 2010 local elections. Of these, at least seven Somali councillors were elected,[79] including Gulaid Abdullah Ahmed,[83] Abdifatah Aden,[84] Awale Olad,[85] and Abdul Mohamed of the Labour Party,[86] as well as Asad Osman of the Liberal Democrats, a former chairman of the Somali Youth Development Resource Centre.
    Media...

The BBC Somali Service is a radio station transmitted in the Somali language around the world. The majority of Somalis in the UK listen to the BBC Somali Service for news and information.[46] While many listen at home via satellite radio or the Internet, others listen in groups at Somali shops, restaurants, khat houses or mosques.[46]

Somali Eye Media is a media organisation based in London and set up in 2003 by Adam Dirir, a prominent member of the Somali community. It publishes the magazine Somali Eye quarterly,[47] and operates Somali Voice Radio, a radio station, through Sound Radio 1503 AM.[48] Another UK-based Somali radio station is Somali On Air.[46] Bristol Community FM features a weekly chat show that is hosted by Somali Women's Voice.[49]

There are also a few weekly and monthly Somali newspapers available in the UK in both Somali and English, including Kasmo, Jamhuuriya,[50] and The Somali Voice.[51] Other magazines and newspapers have failed due to poor readership figures.[50] A 2006 survey by the International Organization for Migration suggests that Somalis in the UK prefer to read newspapers such as Metro to improve their English language skills, although listening to radio was more popular.[50] In 2007, five emerging Somali authors (including Adam Dirir) published Silent Voices, an anthology about Somali life in Britain.[52]

Prominent Somali media figures in the UK include Rageh Omaar, a television news presenter and a writer, and advocate for the Somali community. He received the 2002–2003 Ethnic Multicultural Media Academy award for the best TV journalist.[53] Omaar was formerly a BBC world affairs correspondent, where he made his name reporting on the Iraq War.[54][55] In September 2006, he moved to a new post at Al Jazeera English, where he currently hosts the current-affairs programme, The Rageh Omaar Show.[56] Yusuf Garaad Omar is a Somali journalist and head of the BBC Somali Service.[57] Other Somali media figures include Mo Ali, a film director born in Saudi Arabia,[58] who debuted in 2010 his feature film, Shank, set in a futuristic London
Quick overview if you can't be bothered to read about Business

The Somali people have a strong tradition in trade, with a long history of maritime enterprise stretching back to antiquity that includes possible commerce with ancient Britons based on rare commodities such as tin.[88] In recent times, several Somali multinational companies, such as Omar A. Ali's Integrated Property Investments Limited, with multi-million dollar projects in East Africa,[89] and Invicta Capital, with an investment capital of £1.4 billion, have their headquarters in London.[90] A 2008 study on immigrant business in Britain highlighted that the level of community support enjoyed by Somali traders was high in comparison to other immigrant groups.[91] Somali enterprise has also begun replacing previously Indian-dominated business premises. Southall, for example, now features several Somali-orientated restaurants and cafés

    Money transfer operators

Some Somali businesses with a presence in the UK, particularly in the remittance sector, already operate internationally. The latter include Dahabshiil, Qaran Express, Mustaqbal, Amal Express, Kaah Express, Hodan Global, Olympic, Amana Express, Iftin Express and Tawakal Express. Most are credentialed members of the Somali Money Transfer Association (SOMTA) (or its predecessor, the Somali Financial Services Association (SFSA)), an umbrella organisation that regulates the community's money transfer sector. The bulk of remittances are sent by Somalis to relatives in Somalia, a practice which has had a stimulating effect on that country's economy.

Dahabshiil is the largest of the Somali money transfer operators (MTO), having captured most of the market vacated by Al-Barakaat. The firm has its headquarters in London and employs more than 2000 people across 144 countries, with 130 branches in the United Kingdom alone, a further 130 branches in Somalia, and 400 branches globally, including one in Dubai.[93][94] It invests 5 percent of its profits into community projects aimed at improving schools, hospitals, agriculture and sanitation services, and sponsors a number of social events, including the Somali Week Festival and the Somali Youth Sports Association, which help to promote understanding and cooperation through Somali art and culture and sport, respectively.[94] In 2008, Dahabshiil's CEO, Abdirashid Duale, a Somali who has British citizenship, was awarded Top Manager of the Year by the International Association of Money Transfer Networks in recognition of the services the firm offers its clients.[95] This was followed in 2010 with the Mayor of Tower Hamlets award for excellence in the community, which recognises the "outstanding contribution" Dahabshiil has made to the local, national and international Somali community over the last 40 years.[94]

After Dahabshiil, Qaran Express is the largest Somali-owned funds transfer company. The firm has its headquarters in both London and Dubai, with 175 agents worldwide, 64 agents in London and 66 in Somalia, and charges nothing for remitting charity funds. Mustaqbal is the third most prominent Somali MTO with branches in the United Kingdom, having 49 agents in the UK and 8 agents in Somalia.

Now, don't get me wrong. Employment rate amongst the Somali community is pretty low, Just like the Bangladeshi and afro Caribbean community. But there is of course to several things. For a start, there's always been a Somali community. But the vast majority fled from civil war. They did not come here for economic reason. Another reason is that the qualifications they had were worthless. Thirdly most are women with Children.

If you want, I can more than happy tell you what my ancestors did for the UK Historically. I'll leave this picture which was taken in 1916 on a Royal Navy ship off the coast of Singapore, as a clue ...

    Complete and utter nonsense.

    Notable Somalians... Labour MP

You forgot to mention the mind boggling levels of crime Somali's commit in the UK everyday. Especially with sexual assault of white females. Any so called contribution Somalis have made(zero in real world terms), is rendered void by the sheer amount of criminal activity Somalis have brought to the UK.

    Really? You racist bigot!

Read this link, it's only 5 pages so it should't take much of your time...

    http://www.portcities.org.uk/london/...of-London.html

If you can't be bothered, then the first paragraph says...

The Somalis are one of the oldest African communities in Britain. They have communities in the port cities of Cardiff, Liverpool, Hull, South Shields and London.
    Still disagree?

    Wikipedia -
The first Muslims to settle in London were Somali and Yemeni sailors from the 19th century.
The oldest and largest Ethnic group in Liverpool and Especially in Cardiff, are the Somali community.

Why ignore the others for? How many ethnic MPs do we have in parliament? Only a handful and for the Somali community to have one is pretty good, is it not? Same way there is only 1 Nigerian MP. The Ethnic Make up of the House of commons is small and is largly dominated by Asian community who make up the largest ethnic group in the UK.

Right, any chance you can back it up now? Seriously. Back it up. And why is exclusive to the Somali community. Because that's what it seems from the tone of your post. Crime has been high amongst the black community for decades.

Since you've decided to update your post. I'll tackle that part seperatly.

    Wow, 1 video.

Can I ask you something, are you that thick and naive to assume a whole community might not have bad apples? That every single person of the Indian community, Pakistani community, Nigerian community etc won't have people who break the law?

When back in January the story broke out of an epidemic in one part of the country in which young white women were being targeted by a particular ethnic group because they were seen as "easy meat" as Jack Straw put it. Which group was that? It certainly wasn't the Somali community.

One innocent native inhabitant of this nation being harmed by a Somali, and that's enough for me. If none of you came here, then this event would have never occured. You're all a drain on the economy, I can attend a private family gathering and be surrounded by people who have contributed more than your entire lot have for all of time.

I could spend eternity scouring the web picking off Somali related crime reports, but that would be missing the point. This isn't just a phenomona unique to Britain, it's even worse in Nordic countries. Somalian rape and violent crime in Sweden has been described as epidemic.

I'm well aware that other non-white groups commit high amounts of crime, thank you for reminding me. Also, having a few sailors here in the 19th century is far from "a somalian community always been here" lol.

So your problem is ethnic minorities commiting crime. As long as its white, I don't care. But the minute it's a coloured person, a brown or black person, you take issue with it

    Such a pathetic post

So you have relatives who are multimillionaires? I find that hard to believe. There several multimillionaire Somali business men around the world. But I'll focus on two are British, educated in the UK and have invested in the UK.

Omar A. Ali - In 1983, he became CEO of the Islamic financial institution the DMI Trust based in Geneva, Switzerland. Under his tenure, DMI became a leading Islamic Financial Institution and its assets increased from $1.6 billion USD to $4 billion USD, with Omar managing a worldwide staff of 1,400 employees in three continents

Abdirashid Duale - is an award-winning British Somali entrepreneur, philantropist, and the CEO of the multinational enterprise Dahabshiil

Both whom are wealthy multimillionaires who have created jobs for thousand of people in the UK and Abroad.

Exactly, you can search all you like. I can search about any other ethnic group. I just typed in "Iraqi rape Swede" and I already found a link talking about a group of Iraqis gang raping Swedish teens.

You said there was an epidemic of Somali men in the UK raping white English women. I thought, you might have confused Somalis with another ethnic group that were blamed for it back in January. But knowing you, I think you were just being a spiteful.

I asked you to back it up and all you could show for was 1. If it was true, we would have had reports about it. Crime Watch on a monthy basis would have had pictures up and asking for help. But yet there isn't. It's just you making up a lie again.

Find me a source that says there is an epidemic of Somali men raping white English women. I'm giving you the chance to make me look like a fool and prove me wrong.

Crime is no doubt high in the black community, which Somalis are part of. But that is due to poverty. Poverty leads to Crime. Nottingham for example, a majority white city. Yet was nicknamed Shottingham years back due to gun crime. Explain that one? There weren't many blacks there, but there was a lot of poor white people. Same with Liverpool and the crime rates there. Not many ethnics living there.

    (Original post by OdinsThunder)
In that video you provided it, it was talking about Muslim immigrants, which included Iraqis, Algerians, Moroccans etc. Yet you just focus on Somalis.

    (Original post by OdinsThunder)

A few sailors? There was a decent size. But once again, I've proved you wrong. Do you know what the word "community" means? Communities that were in Cardiff, Liverpool, Hull, South Shields and London. More than a few you idiot.

So explain to me how the Somali community have not been here since the 19th Century, when I have provided you a perfectly valid source. Are you willing to refute that claim? Go ahead and back it up. Provide a valid source that disagrees with mine. I can even provide you an article from a welsh news website which wrote about the Somali community in Cardiff, and described them as the oldest in Wales.

You are nothing but a racist and a bigot, as I just showed you up. You resort to nothing but lies.
