quadratic formula am i wrong or the book?

x^2 - 4x + 1

i got

2+sqrt6 and 2-sqrt6

book has 2+sqrt3 and 2-sqrt3
the book is definitely right, sorry :P

The book answers look right to me.

If you post your working, I might be able to see where you've gone wrong.

You can check your answer you know. Just expand and see if you get the original equation out.

2+(1/2)sqrt12 = 2+(1/2)sqrt3*sqrt4
= 2+(1/2)sqrt3*2
= 2+sqrt3

what I did was

4+-sqrt16-4
/
2

=

4+-sqrt12
/
2

= 2+sqrt 6 and 2-sqrt6 =/

nvm figured it out, problem i made was i didnt do sqrt4x3 instead of just halving sqrt12 =/
