Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?
http://www.soccermanager.com
Its basically a football manager game where you play matches (usually twice a week Weds and Sat) and compete against the computer or other real-life managers. It's very simple compared to Football Manager. each player is given a rating between 0-100 and the ratings are dependent on the real-life players performance. So if a player has a good season, he rises, if he plays badly he drops etc.
Anyway just thought I would check if anyone plays it here? -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?I do! I've played it for years. It's nothing like as good as FM (before all the bashers come in...) but it's fun to play, and playing vs real managers every week is fun. It's also fun bartering/trading players with other real people rather than just computers.(Original post by MTR_10)

Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?I don't know how it compares to the online CM game, you should check it out thought! Try to get a team in one of the game worlds I mentioned above. And even if no great teams are available to start with you can build them up, and if a manager of a 'good' team quits then their chairman offers that job to an over-performing manager at another club. That's how I got my 'top' clubs!(Original post by Aky786UK)
I remember playing a FM game, think it was the online version of Championship Manager which closed down. I did enjoy it actually, quite fun. Is this similiar? I might be interested if I can get a decent team.
Also it's worth noting that how players perform in real life affects their rating in game, not how much they play in-game or anything. Eg on football manager the more you play youth players the better they get. But on SM their ratings depend on how they perform in real life - so there is an element of fantasy football to it, too. -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?
I've joined. In charge of Aston Villa in Division 3.
EDIT: Are the league games consisting of super league games against clubs from other countries? I thought it'd be playing in the English Premier League...?Last edited by Aky786UK; 07-05-2011 at 20:20. -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?Which game world are you in? In English championships it's like a premier league/championship/div1...set up. Similarly in a Spanish Championship you have the Spanish league structure. But they also do "World Championship" which is like a world superleague, 4 divisions of it.(Original post by Aky786UK)

Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?You have to join an English championship not World Championship, then. Look above to see which English championship's I'm in and try to join one of those.(Original post by Aky786UK)
I think it maybe the World Championship thingy because when I click on the league tables, teams from other countries appear. Anyway I can do the PL structure? -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?Hey,(Original post by Aky786UK)
When are the matches played? It says one takes place tonight at 8pm, is there a lock off point where all the matches are played and result published the next day? Still unsure how to join the Game World's you're in, can't find the way to join them.
Yeah I think at the time of the fixtures your team sheets are 'locked' and submitted. You might have to quit your current game world to join one of mine (new members can only have one club at once I think, rising to a maximum of three after a week or two - maybe just wait and join one of my game worlds with your second club?) -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?Cool.(Original post by M_E_X)

I'm competing mostly in game world 2352 - Fulham and gold Championship 126 - Fulham. The Gold game worlds are good because there are a lot of other real life managers but it's v. hard to sign quality players and win anything!
The thing I love most about the game is spotting new young talent, buying them for a few million and then watching them increase in ratings and value. -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?The standard league games are played at 8pm on Wednesday and Saturday. The results are usually available from 9pm (ish) - this changes depending on how quickly the results are published. You can log in any time and get the results though. However if you are trying to buy a player and so is another manager, then you may want to log in frequently in case an offer is made and accepted (in which case you can also make an offer). Depending on how many managers there are in the game world, it is sometimes easier to sign players and sometimes harder.(Original post by Aky786UK)

I think your team needs to be picked by 8pm on the day of the match.
If you go to your home page (the screen when you first log in) and select 'add new club' and then you can search by game world ID number. Find the club you want and then select the team you want (if its highlighted then its available). Then select 'Take control'. -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?
I play it also, still not been able to find out the league which the OP is in lol but it reminds me of the CM manager game that I used to play before that died but this one is better in terms of transfers, tactics etc.
We could see how many that do play before doing a league. Which club do you manage adamski93? -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?Yeah that would be good. It depends how much interest there is though...(Original post by adamski93)
We should have a Student Room league set up!
Game World 2352 - Fulham(Original post by Aky786UK)

(I'm using a different username on that site though) -
Re: Anyone play Soccer Manager (Online game) ?Could do this but the advantage of starting a new league is that you can sign all the best players from the start. In leagues where there are already managers this is more difficult.(Original post by adamski93)
I have many haha, why don't we just choose a league (new or old) that someone else has created and join it, then if we make it popular people can try and get a space in it! Someone just needs to choose a number
