    ME Awareness Week 2011
Well, this week is ME awareness week 2011. I'd be grateful if everyone would take 5 minutes to watch this video created by my friend (a sufferer of ME) on the constant hardship and pain that they face. Cheers.

Also, discussions of ME and the condition would be welcomed

There are 4 girls in my sixth form who have ME, and it's awful seeing how much their lives have had to change because of it

I know, to be honest I was very ignorant of it before I met people who actually suffered from it.

4 out of how many..? Cause that seems an awful lot.

People who have seen me post on here know I'm a great disbeliever of the ME diagnosis which frequently is a 'I don't know whats really wrong so I'll just call it ME'

Case in point - one of my patients was told she had ME for 3 years.
Weight loss, abdo pains, tiredness. Had loads of medical tests. Except the REALLY important ones

Turns out she has HIV. Was only found when he severe 'panic attack' turned out to be a nasty case of TB (which HIV sufferers are prone to).

I am NOT suggesting anyone here has HIV. But just there are many illnesses that can give rather vague symptoms and its important to rule them out before leaping to ME.

ME is a serious problem and the last poster is correct in saying that its often misdiagnosed but its defiantly a real problem and hopefully one day there will be a cure as it can be very debilitating for sever suffers

A very enlightening video.. :yep: I could tell how upset and frustrated she was talking about the medical professionals who don't provide the support needed.
