Re: why work in retail at all,(Original post by Mess.)
Of course, they work hard but they don't work any longer hours than other retail jobs they are just expected to help out on the shop floor rather than sit in an ivory tower doing **** all like most managers in retail.
My Manager and supervisors get £1 and 50p more respectively than the rest of the workers (just over minimum wage). They have to help out on the shop floor and this is a multi-national company. Aldi and Lidl just pay really well :P -
Re: why work in retail at allYou've been an area manager for Aldi, then?(Original post by Mess.)

You've been an area manager for Aldi, then?
I'm a broker.

Re: why work in retail at allYou know someone who is, or has been an area manager for Aldi?
The reviews on graduate job websites send out mixed messages: some say they work their area managers so hard, that very few people last longer than one or two years; whereas other people have said they love their role as an area manager, and that they get at least one day off per week.Last edited by Choo.choo; 04-08-2012 at 20:19. -
Re: why work in retail at allNo, it's actually because we know the thread starter makes millions of threads on the same subjects constantly. It's nothing to do with thinking it was a job application - even if people posted good stuff here there's no way the OP would get the job as he'd fail the interview!(Original post by Choo.choo)
None of the above comments answer the thread starters' question.
Money is not a good answer, and certainly not in an interview situation.
Although, I suspect that everyone wrote those comments because they thought that the thread starter was filling out an application form, so decided to give random, incorrect answers.
You'd fail an interview for telling the interviewer you want the job to bring in a wage.
Also, why are you dragging up an old thread to post pointless stuff complaining about other people's posts? -
Re: why work in retail at allI was hoping someone would post a sensible answer(Original post by Juno)

Re: why work in retail at allThen read the OP's other threads, although this might take you a while, and see if there's anything there(Original post by Choo.choo)
I was hoping someone would post a sensible answer
