Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes? No. In the comment i quoted you were judging a games 'maturity' by it's age rating.(Original post by no-fat-chicks)
As I've said before, I said that most of the nintendo games are aimed at younger audiences, Not ALL! So saying random games at me isn't going to prove anything. Also, I wan't trying to diss Nintendo or the 3DS I was merely explaining why some people aren't buying it... -
Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes?Actually, that makes no sense. According to various sources the demographic of video gamers have an average age of 32 years old, in addition to this three of the best selling video games of all time (1. Wii Sports; 2. Super Mario Bros. and 3. Pokemón R/G/B) are Nintendo games. Finally, almost half of all gamers (49%) are aged between 18 and 49.(Original post by no-fat-chicks)

Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes? You are reading way too much into what I actually typed and pulling statistics that don't even prove anything you're saying. Anyway I'm bored of this topic so Goodbye Sir.(Original post by 01010000 01001010)

Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes? This made my day. (Even though it just confirmed everything I already thought)
Xboxes suck, its official. Lol at japan sales
Top 5 games are actually ALL Nintendo.
Wii failures in the first 2 years- 2.7%, compared to 23.7% for Xbox
PS2 massively outsold Original Xbox
And chicks play Wii. Sweet.
Edit- also, is your name supposed to mean 8074 or 2 ASCII characters (which I cba to look up)?Last edited by Meteor64; 16-05-2011 at 21:30. -

Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes?
Assuming people aren't buying it, it'd be for a number of reasons:
1) Those who are interested in it are people who will already have a DS.
2) It's over £200. If people aren't buying PS3s because they're over £200, handhelds don't stand a chance.
3) Regarding point #1, people trading in their DS and buying a 3DS would be spending around £150 for an expansion.
4a) Nobody asked for 3D gaming, and it has been the bane of gaming for some time in various forms.
4b) Gamers want holograms/virtual reality (to be in the game basically), open-world environments, strong stories, atmosphere, motion sensing etc. 3D games and movies are way down the list. We're not in the 80s or early 90s. What next, smell-o-vision again?
5) It's only just been released, as time goes on it'll get much cheaper, so why buy it now?
6) The games library of 3DS games consists of a few games. Not exactly PS2 and Mega Drive-worthy. Again, time is needed.
7) Imaginary floaty number armageddon/recession
8) People will buy an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii or smartphone before a 3DS, vomit-inducing 3D or not.Last edited by nonotrly; 17-05-2011 at 21:31. -
Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes? It's £165, lst time I checked (which was yesterday). Go Amazon.(Original post by nonotrly)

...Explain?4a) Nobody asked for 3D gaming, and it has been the bane of gaming for some time in various forms.
Evidence?4b)3D games and movies are way down the list.
An extra £30 or so is worth the 3 months or whatever extra to some people.5) It's only just been released, as time goes on it'll get much cheaper, so why buy it now?
Agreed.6) The games library of 3DS games consists of a few games. Not exactly PS2 and Mega Drive-worthy. Again, time is needed.

I know plenty of people that got a DS first.8) People will buy an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii or smartphone before a DS, vomit-inducing 3D or not. -
Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes? From What I've heard this is why people are giving it a miss(Original post by Meteor64)
This has been bugging me for a while now, because currently I know only 2 people other than myself who have one of these, and I've had a grand total of one SpotPass. From my friend.
I've heard a lot of people complaining that they think the system will mess up their eyes, but I've yet to hear of a valid reason as to why. Nintendo themselves and an independent study have both stated that the only case in which you should otherwise restrict the usage of the 3D feature is with young children, as their eyes are still developing their focus. Otherwise, you should just take regular breaks- like they tell you to do with any other console.
The technology behind the 3D screen is just a smart bit of pixel manipulation, nothing more. Its called parallax barrier autostereoscopy, if you're interested. Essentially, its a method of blocking half of the pixels from each eye, so that each eye gets a different image. Thats all it does. I don't understand how this harms anyone, let alone children.
So is there a negative stigma tied to the 3DSes 3D effect or is it just because people can't afford them at the moment?
terrible launch games SF IV being the only "killer game"
Sorta expensive for a handheld
terrible battery life with the 3Ds on
Holding out for a price cut or like the 3DS lite?
And of course the Mario and Zelda titles aren't out yet... just Pilotwings

Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes? The vast majority of the general public shop at physical stores, and the general prices appear to be over the £200 mark there.(Original post by Meteor64)
It's £165, lst time I checked (which was yesterday). Go Amazon.
Compare 3D Sonic, 3D Street Fighter, 3D Superman, 3D Earthworm Jim, 3D Mario (oh yes) to their 2D versions....Explain?
WTF?Evidence?
Hahahahahaha yeah, but not a lot. Just the impatient who don't mind spending a lot.An extra £30 or so is worth the 3 months or whatever extra to some people.
You... don't know what a recession is?...?
FANTASTIC!I know plenty of people that got a DS first.

I'm so glad I have all 3 major systems
i only play on the ps3. -
Re: Are people not buying the 3DS because they think it'll screw up their eyes?Actually, the Nintendo DS is the best-selling handheld game console of all time, and misses out on the title of best-selling game console of all time by just 3.5 million sales. (PS2 is top, of course)(Original post by nonotrly)
...
People will buy an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii or smartphone before a DS, vomit-inducing 3D or not.
In fact, the DS has had 146.42 million units sold worldwide, whilst the Xbox 360 is lagging behind with only 53.6 million!
