    F1 for Dummies
    Hi guys,

I'm looking at treating my friend to going to the Grand Prix, but I know nothing about F1.

Can anyone tell me why, on the ticket site, it's a "3-day ticket"? You can click on tickets for Friday, tickets for Saturday and tickets for Sunday... but each says it's a 3-day ticket.

Perhaps I'm being a complete muppet... but isn't it just one race?

Friday is practice sessions, Saturday is qualifying, to determine your position in the race, and sunday is the race day.

EDIT: qualifying determines where you START the race. my bad!

    On Friday there is:

    Free Practice 1 - 1h30m
    Free Practice 2 - 1h30m

    Just practice sessions.

    On Saturday there is:

    Free Practice 3 - 1h00m
    Qualifying - 1h00m

Another practice session followed by qualifying.

    On Sunday there is:

    THE RACE!

You can choose specific days or go to all three.

The Sunday ticket was the cheapest... is that supposed to be the case?

Wow, no, it's not normally like that. What race are you looking at?

IMO, sunday is definately the best day to go. Nothin like the ear blistering sound of an F1 car on a sunday morning!

Don't forget that on a race weekend you also have other formulas racing over the weekend, such as GT3 Cup, Formula 2 and Formula Renault I think.

I assume that by 'the' GP, you mean the British GP? Where are you looking for tickets? Sunday is definitely not the cheapest! For the Brit GP go here: http://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/.../?tab=Book-now

The price will depend on whether you want a general admission ticket, or a grandstand (and the price of the grandstand tickets varies depending on where you want to sit). You may also need to buy either parking (on site or at a local school/farmers field) or a park and ride ticket to get to the circuit.
