AQA Core 1 Maths Question

Hey guys,

Basically, when we are told to find the equation of a line, or a tangent or normal, I find it in the form of y-y1=m(x-x1) then I begin to manipulate it to get y=mx-(mx+y1) and that is where I leave it, however on every mark scheme they seem to be doing it differently, they either leave it in my first equation or they go and put it in some other form, so what's my safest bet for the exam, what form should I leave it in?

If the question says find an equation of the line...then you will get full marks for just using y-y1=m(x-x1).

Sometimes they'll ask you to write in the form y=mx+c or ax+by+c=0 (where a,b,c are integers)...then you'll have to rearrange your equation.

Unless specified, you are fine leaving it in the form ax+by+c=0 or y=mx+c.
