it's a pride thing. Communities are proud of their own kind and look down upon others, so marrying someone from another culture/religion is practically belittling yourself and will tarnish the family name. -

Re: Asian girls must marry their own kind!I don't really know, but it makes me lol at the way a lot of white people get worked up about this. I've dated one WoC and nobody has ever been like, omg why do you only date white women (I'm white)!!
I think there are a lot of issues with inter-racial dating if one half of the couple is white (white privilege, etc) but the bottom line is really that you should date who you like, regardless of colour or religion. -

Re: Asian girls must marry their own kind!Well being indian, with a traditional Indian dad and my traditional Indian grandparents, with relatives living in villages in India, I know for a fact that if I married a white man, I'd be disowned, not matter how rich he was. Maybe its just my culture, I mean I do know this thought pattern is dying out now, it's becomming more common to see mixed culture marriages, so some of those people are learning to accept the idea. But I think it will be quite a while before rich white man marriage comes along(Original post by stroppyninja)
But I thought in a lot of countries (i.e. India) getting a white girlfriend (or a very well educated, rich white man) was also seen as a status symbol? Moreso the girlfriend i think
