In reality we are left with 3 games where we can pick up points: home to Stoke, Sunderland and Bolton. Two wins out of those and we are flying, nil points and we are playing Charlton next season.

From our last 8 games last season we got 5 points.
As a worse case scenario do you reckon that will be enough for you?

EDIT: sorry I actually read the article after I posted this, as oppose to just the link title. And see the article is actually about the fact he isn't retiring

his agent has dismissed claims that Petrov is retiring from football, it was just a misquoted Bulgarian interview. Whilst it's obviously not definite that he will return after fighting off the illness, for now he's simply saying that football is taking a backseat whilst he focuses on this.

The support shown for Stan today was very touching, and you could tell it meant a lot to him. A very emotional day today.
Best of luck to him, a genuinely nice guy and one of my favourite Villa players, i was devastated by the news. He's one of those rare players that actually loves the club he plays for.
Get well soon Stan!

I think 5 points might be enough, although they won't be easy to come by.
Stoke, West Brom, Norwich and Bolton are where they're most likely to come from, but with Spurs, Man Utd, Liverpool and Sunderland also coming up, it'll be tough. Especially seeing as the teams below seem to be picking up points from unlikely places.

I can't say I like the similarities between our season this year and Blues last season, in particular the manager! haha. But if we finish the season like you did last year, we could easily be dragged into it, just like you were. All you had to do was win 1 of your last 6 games and you would of been safe, but you didn't win any of them. We could easily do the same considering the way we're playing and the teams we've got to play

Not going to lie mate, I'm loving the similarities. Especially Agent 451

We beat Sunderland with 6 games to go and I thought we were home and dry. 2 draws would have done but the bore draw specialist couldn't even manage that!

Wigan made up 15 points in the same period last season so anything possible.

On an unrelated note, I'm delighted that Wolves and the numpty Roger Johnson are going down. HA!
5 points would take us to 38 which would be enough. This isn't going to be a vintage year where a team goes down with 40 points.
So Agbonlahor is our new captain. Interesting...

I think it's a good thing in a way. He cares more about the club than anybody on the pitch and does have a good knowledge of football. Not to sure how vocal he is though...
Love Gabby but that is shocking :facepalm2:

Have you heard him in interviews?
Gabby and knowledge don't belong in the same sentence. Even football wise I would be surprised if his knowledge went beyond- run fast and kick ball at net.

Yeah I know he's thick as but he could be ok on the pitch.

As for his abilities, it is definitely at net as opposed to in...

That is certainly true, but I'm not sure that alone should qualify him to be captain. I'd have gone for Given personally.

I guess that this might be more of a long-term pick though. Worst case scenario if we do get relegated he's one play guaranteed to be sticking with us - without the team bus shuttling him to matches I'd be surprised if he ever made it out of Erdington.

I think we would go into the chumpionship with a strong team for that league. So I wouldn't be too scared of getting back out of it. Our youth team would all stay because they know they'd get a good season and we have a few players who would stay because of their love for the club.

This being said, I am not praying for Muamba or Petrov, only for Villa.

I am praying for Petrov really. Man's a hero.

If I have been negged for not saying I am praying for Muamba too, I have been, but it's done now. He's ok. Jeez.

Some people take things to seriously, need to lighten up!

Villa fans talking about the possibility of Championship football. Keep up the good work Agent 451:wink:

Be too optimistic and we will fall, simple as. We need to fight, not rest thinking we are too big. No club is too big, look at Leeds and Newcastle.

I tryed to be optimistic when Eck turned up. Look how that turned out guys!
Stan has also just signed up for twitter by the looks of it. Seems a genuine account.

The Gabby captaincy thing is only temporary though, ie. till the end of the season. The same article on the OS said he would be wearing the armband for the first time at Anfield this weekend. WRANG. I don't really know who I'd want as captain other than Stan...Given, maybe, don't usually like Goalie captains though. Dunne and Collins are the only other realistic alternatives really, and I'd rather see them replaced in the summer.

Captain Carlos perhaps :h:

With Reina out, their lack of form, and some Agger injured too, I reckon we might just get three points today: here's hoping, anyway... :facepalm2:

Haha I wouldn't be shocked if you did :colondollar:

You guys have to be the only other big sort of club that is having a bad a season as us so we might pull something off :teeth:
1 unexpected point gained on the fodder teams anyway.

Too big to fall.
