Re: Aston Villa FC Society IIHe's not really experienced, even though he does know the younger players well.(Original post by punani-62)
give kevin macdonald another crack at the job..? -
Re: Aston Villa FC Society IIVery fair suggestion. I think we won five games or so on the bounce at the start of the season when he was in charge and we looked like CL contenders again; the players all looked so happy with him too.(Original post by punani-62)

I really hope we get somebody in soon.
TBH I would love to see Di Matteo there. Top bloke. -
Re: Aston Villa FC Society II
Really hope we don't get RDM. The main reason he managed such success at Chelsea this season was the bond he had with the club and with the players IMO; think it was Lampard who said that throughout the CL campaign they "wanted to do it for 'Robbie'". Not sure he'd have the same impact or rapport at Villa.
And yes, Colbert, he was dog ****e with Albion. -

With McDonald we beat a rubbish soon-to-be relegated West Ham 3-0, lost 6-0 away at Newcastle, beat Everton 1-0 at home, with 2 shots on target the entire game, Everton should have beaten us, plus we also got knocked out of the Europa League by Rapid Vienna!!
I'm not knocking the guy McDonald is a good man, but by no means were we CL contenders!
However, I do agree with you loving to see Di Matteo at Villa!

Re: Aston Villa FC Society IIsuppose your right. Be interesting to see what he could if he was given the time unlike last time where he only had a week to prepare for the new season when o'neil left.(Original post by boumavilla)

suppose your right. Be interesting to see what he could if he was given the time unlike last time where he only had a week to prepare for the new season when o'neil left.
He'd probably need some coaches that specialise in attacking and defending etc, bring Laursen back!

I think Di Matteo showed he is a shrewd tactician with Chelsea this season. Yes he got a lot of luck against Barca and Bayern but he got them to be solid and well drilled enough to negate alot of the Barca and Bayern attack, which is easier said than done. Also the way he adapted his tactics for every match shows he knows his stuff and he managed to get the best out of Drogba after everyone was saying he was past it. You could do worse than to get him imo.

No he wasn't.
He was unfairly sacked imo. He'd never even had them in the relegation zone.
I was at a school in West Bromwich at the time and every Albion fan agreed that he deserved to go. 13 defeats in 18 games, many of which were against opponents they should have beaten. As well as this, the general consensus of the fans was that he was doing little to rectify any of their faults (sticking with the same tactics despite the fact they clearly weren't working) and simply didn't seem bothered. The fact that they finished 11th after his sacking says a lot, in my eyes.
We could definitely do worse than RDM, and if he did get the job I'd back him but that doesn't mean I'd be happy with it. -
Re: Aston Villa FC Society III said that back in March! It just came to my mind somehow, I think he could do a job, but definately not my prefered option.(Original post by hogso)
I am ITK.
The next Aston Villa Football Club manager will be Simon Grayson. -
