Re: Aston Villa FC Society IIThis one is free to stream (ie. you dont have to be a memeber or live in the US) on the Chicago Fire site, for those interested.(Original post by Rock Fan)
on another note was good to see we have won both friendlies so far, Holman looked good in the first one and in the second one the fonz got on the scoresheet. Next game is against Chicago Fire on Saturday 7.30PM kick off Chicago time. -

I bloody hope so...it'll be interesting to see whether they play tonight. I'm sure that'll give us some idea. -
Re: Aston Villa FC Society IINeither is starting. We must have some replacements lined up.(Original post by Cll_ws)

Re: Aston Villa FC Society IIThey're on the bench I see, Dunne and Baker starting.(Original post by little_wizard123)
Neither is starting. We must have some replacements lined up.
Warnock's girlfriend has said on twitter that it's the first she's heard of the move though!
Hopefully it is true, and hopefully it clears the way for Vlaar to make his move here! Feyenoord don't seem too pleased about how long we're taking to make an offer according to reports. -
Re: Aston Villa FC Society II
Oh god yeah, the commentary was ridiculous at times! haha
"So what is Friedrich like outside of football" "He's very German"
I also enjoyed Bannan's comparison to Xavi and Iniesta! And their many failed attempts at pronouncing Agbonlahor's name right - or Agbongalore as he will now be known
Hopefully his injury isn't too bad, he had a good game before that. -
Re: Aston Villa FC Society IIBecause PL was busy getting ready for the USA tour and subsequently went on it; in this time Vlaar had a tantrum because he didn't get to go on holiday with us. He is obviously just being a bit grump because he thought it would have been done ASAP. I think PL has a couple of decent CBs in mind and Vlaar was just one of them. He does look a beast but according to a lot of Dutch fans he isn't all that. Only had nine caps for his country too - that says a lot when their other CBs are ****.(Original post by little_wizard123)
Why has this Vlaar transfer fallen through? -
Re: Aston Villa FC Society II
Vlaar about to sign and he's touted as the next Laursen.
Suddenly the deal is in doubt and he's gash
It's odd that both sides made the right noises after he had the interview with Lambert and nothing progressed though. Surely Lambert being away has no bearing as it should be the owner/chairman sorting out the actual transfer once the manager has selected the target
Perhaps it's a work in progress but at least it means he is looking at the right places to improve the squad. Lots of Naughton rumours at the weekend but I haven't heard much since. -

Well looks like it's nearly sorted...

Four signings already, this is good. I expect one more to come in too, either a striker or LB. -
Re: Aston Villa FC Society II
Glad we've got the Vlaar deal sorted, I think he'll be a good player for us. With him being Feyenoord's captain I imagine he'll be vocal and a leader, whether he's captain or not, the type of player we could do with! In fact I don't think we can rule out him being out next permanent captain come the start of the season.

Re: Aston Villa FC Society IIYeah, Ridgewell became Birmingham captain as soon as he joined - we have higher standards.(Original post by Aust1n)
Personally I doubt he would be captain until next season. He would need to gain the respect of the players and fans before being given such a big role within the club.
