Re: Economics at City University London - ask a question!
My question.
Do I stand a chance to get accepted to the Economics and Accountancy BSc (Hons) course (2013) with an 80% in an European Baccalaureate, which includes good grades in Maths, Biology and an A in English ?
I am also starting my AAT qualification this september, I'll be doing level 2 & 3 this following year...I know this is about 160 UCAS points too. I should have enough UCAS points with that.
so that will be:
80% overall score
AAT level 2&3
plus an 8 in IELTS.
Is it worth applying? I feel like I might not stand a chance. I haven't been able to figure out how my 80% translates into A-levels.
Thank you for your time. -

Hi,
Thanks for getting in touch.
A normal offer for candidates with the European Baccalaureate for Economics and Accountancy would be 80% overall, with 80% in Maths and English. The 80% in English would be in place of an IELTS test if you haven’t already taken it. But as you’ve got an 8 that doesn’t matter as it far exceeds what we ask.
The AAT qualification, while not necessary for you to take, would not harm your chance of being accepted on to course and would more likely help it. Additionally it would provide you with a better understanding of Accounting that would make the first year of study slightly easier.
I hope this helps -
Re: Economics at City University London - ask a question! As long as you're predicted AAA, and have a B In gcse eng and maths, you should be fine(Original post by TheKonspiracy)
Basically i want to study Economics, the thing is im let down by my lack of AS mathematics and the fact that im taking media studies. The reason why the course at city appeals to me is the fact that they have facilities which cater towards students with only gcse maths.
My question is will City University take me seriously if i have a good personal statement, predicted 3 As and decent gcses?
Will media studies affect my application?
Subjects: History, Economics and Media, Business - dropping business for a2.
AS Grades: ABBB
6 Bs 3Cs. B in core subjects including triple science and maths.

Re: Economics at City University London - ask a question!
Hello
I am a chinese studentd, therefore i would like to apologize first for my possible grammatical mistake.
I am considering to apply Financial Economics course in the City Uni London.
However, i noticed that the entry requirement of this course for IB candidate which is 35, is just as high as Cass Business School's.
I really want to study economics but there is no such course in Cass, so can i think this course in the department of economics is as good as Cass Business School's course because of the same entry requirement ?
I am looking forward your answer
Regards!
