Finishing 4th would be amazing but seeing Chelsea win the Champions League a week or two later would be awful.

I do support the champions getting a spot but it should never take away from spots earned in the league. If the champions don't qualify via the league they should go into the first qualifying round like Liverpool in 2005.
I'm still confident Barcelona will go through tbh. Only Sevilla have stopped Barca scoring at the Camp Nou this season and that was only because Varas had the game of his life (he made something like 15 saves iirc).

Third Place is a distinct and realistic possibility.

I fancy Barcelona to win at the Nou Camp too but it would only take a Chelsea goal to leave them needing to score 3. They must not concede otherwise I think Chelsea will go through on away goals.

You do have quite a hard run in after this as all 4 games are going to difficult. You are the form team now so who knows. Hope you and Spurs get CL. Would be fantastic to see!

Reporter: So Alan, you must be well happy with that performance and another clean sheet.

Pardew: Absolutely! And the good thing is, it was a great team effort and we were never in trouble.

Reporter: So what was the first goal celebration all about, Alan; what was the reason behind it?

Pardew: (laughs) This was all about Demba Ba in the showers.

    Reporter: What happened, Alan?

Pardew: Well, Demba Ba had slipped in the showers and was laid flat out with a raging fatty on and all the players took it in turns to squat over his fatty on and ride it and that's why they done the advertising hoarding squat.

    Wouldn't get ahead of yourself.

    Wigan vs Newcastle
    Chelsea vs Newcastle
    Newcastle vs Man City
    Everton vs Newcastle

You could drop points in all of those games.

You are Pathetic mate, we're not going to "drop" points. The fact that you have come on here proves how nervous you are about our team. I haven't gone on your thread, do you know why? Because I don't give two ****s about you or your opinion.

No need to get defensive. Just letting you know that you could drop points in all of your remaining fixtures, so third is not a distinct and realistic possibility. I admire what Pardew has done at Newcastle, so much so that I think he would be a better England manager than Redknapp. But I still wouldn't get ahead of yourself, you have tough fixtures, it's not like your playing teams like Villa who have absymal.

Saying we have a realistic opportunity of getting 3rd is hardly saying that we will definitely get it. But we do have that opportunity now and we're the most on-form team in the league.

I don't even think we'll get it, but the chance is definitely there.

If you finish 4th, surely you'd keep the likes of Tiote, HBA, Cisse etc because you'd be able offer them CL football. Or would they move to bigger clubs like Chelsea or Man City for the money? This all started from Chris Hughton tbh, I'm suprised it's only Pardew who's received the credit, Hughton deserves some too.
