May aswell keep Danny Simpson for this season :facepalm2:

At least we've brought in another good striker and a midfielder to boost up our squad.. Oh wait.

You have to look at teams like Liverpool, Tottenham etc and wonder why they never moved for him.

    Mental.

    Still good for us anyway.
Because he was a good buy when he was on a free, with a relatively low salary considering his injury records.

I'm not suprised no one wants to stump up the £7m and probably have to treble his wages when theres a real risk he could break down in pre-season and be ****ed.

:lolwut: Wouldn't Van Der Wiel be even more a lot more expensive than Debuchy? He's been very highly rated and touted for a couple of seasons now, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern all being linked to him in recent times. From what I've seen of him he's a very good player, but I wouldn't have thought he'd be very interested in a club without Champions League football (Ajax are the reigning Dutch champions, after all).

Might also have something to do with him repeatedly saying he was happy at Newcastle as well. :dontknow: I'd think the reported bids from Turkey were real but that Ba just wasn't really interested.

Err that could happen to any footballer....

Demba's knee has been fine. There's always a chance of him breaking down but theres always a chance of Borini breaking his leg in his first premiership start.

I hope Demba smashes a few past mid-table looming Liverpool in the next couple of seasons.

Don't know why your getting so emotional.

Theres a significantly greater chance of Ba breaking down than the average player. He's a quality player and well worth the risk when he's on a free and a low wage.

Do you think Newcastle would have signed him if he'd have comanded a £7m transfer fee and £60k a week?

    Unlikely, that's all I'm saying.

    mid table looming lol.

You finished a whole 2 places above us, but had the whole season to concentrate on the league after getting knocked out of both cups spectacularly early. I'd much rather have my memories of wembley than your memories of almost finishing 4th.

Lets see how you cope fighting on more than one front.

Apparently he's been offered to us on a cut-price deal (won't sign a new contract). According to those who follow the Dutch league he's been pretty terrible recently. But Santon kind of didn't make the grade at Inter and look how great he's been for us now...

Daily Mirror linking us with Toulalan of Malaga. Yes please :sogood: Also, Salomon Rondon is available for 10M euros apparently. Too bad he's set to sign for Rubin Kazan

Both of them will be on huge wages though, would be great but not realistic.

V.D.Wiel is a ridiculously overrated player, he's OK in Holland but definitely not as good as some people believe. He could do OK at Newcastle but I honestly wouldn't pay more than £3m for the guy...

Defence is the priority because Simpson is poor/leaving and Taylor is injury-prone.

But we definitely need another striker as well.

Tbf santon had to compete with maicon and the italians are crap with youth. The amount of times I've seen them loaned to serie B clubs, they're then sold to a serie A club, go in form and get bought by another big club is ridiculous in the italian league.
It's like saying pique didn't make it at united.

VDW has no excuse, I've never rated him but I'd pay between 5-10 million for him.

So someone to play second fiddle to ba and cisse until they go to ACON? Isn't that what leon best is for?
    :facepalm2: didn't realise he's been sold
Any other potential strikers, what about loan signings for a season?

We've got Shola, but he is only really suited to the last 20 minutes/terrorising the Mackems. Not really good enough as a first-choice back-up. In any case we're playing in the Europa League, so we're going to need depth. Despite all the worries over Ba's future, we still needed another striker on top of him.

That is a good point, you also sold lovenkrands as well, a striker is a priority. A right back, another centre midfielder and a striker will help you guys loads. Also what's up with obertan? Never see him play anymore.

What's wrong with using Perchinho at RB until Carr finds some promising youth to slot in there? Simpson himself was alright and made a few critical goal-line clearances too. I also wonder if Bigirimana can play there since he's quick, good at defending, and can obviously pass well as a central midfielder. Certainly better than playing second fiddle to Tioté all year. Think Alaba, guys.

Newcastle has been successful as of late because of their scouting and astute transfers and as exciting as it may be to be in rumours for guys like Debuchy, VDW, and so on, I'd rather not see Ashley break the bank for some big-name player, especially at RB.

Apart from maybe Carroll, we don't do loan signings. Obertan is useless.
