Candidates taking the LNAT before 15 January 2012 will receive their results in early February 2012. Candidates taking the test after 15 January 2012 will receive their results in early July 2012.

Yes very. Nottingham is amazing but Oxford is in another league.

I know. I'll see what I decide, but I'm leaning more towards choosing Nottingham for some reason. :-S

It is unusual but people turn down Oxford offers every year.

They go up for interview and realise that what Oxford is, isn't for them.

I guess Oxford is alright, but I just feel that the people at Nottingham are a bit more down to earth, contrary to Oxford.

Yeah Bristol is apply at the end of the first year  But I didn't realise Kent with Hong Kong was actually AAA, I thought it would be my AAB insurance choice. I currently have an offer from Newcastle (AAA) and that's apply to abroad end of first year, Reading with a year in Europe somewhere already guaranteed (AAB) and straight Law at Oxford (AAA). I felt really nervous for LNAT because it was full of driving theory-takers and one girl sitting LNAT who looked so nervous she looked as if she would be sick, bless her.

That's annoying having Kent with AAA :/ Hong Kong would be a nice insurance choice :L Reading's going to be my insurance choice, but when I went to the open day they told me that you had to apply for the year abroad at the end fo the first year and that you couldn't be guaranteed a place! How did you get that?? I was the only one taking the LNAT in my place, but because I really didn't want to do it (because I really hate failing) I waited until really late - 28th december, 3 days after Christmas , and had convinced myself that nobody else would have decided to do a test/exam at 9 am on that day so it would be really empty, but it was packed...but I suppose knowing that I already had offers from places where I would be really happy to go, I wasn't THAT bothered about it. Are you going to be putting Oxford as your first choice then?? I know a couple of people who got into Oxbridge and aren't going to take it. Really do not understand that

I'm waiting for Birmingham too..when did you send your app off?

Rather late - I sent it off 8th December, but didn't do my LNAT until the 28th

I can see their logic actually, it's a huge commitment, the amount of work you do at Oxbridge is unrivalled, but I think I will be firming it! :s-smilie: In regards to Reading, there's a whole different course number you can choose on UCAS, and it says in their prospectus I think? I need to visit Reading though, I've not been to the uni and only saw the place briefly during Reading Festival last year.

And that is what I get for trying to block out University and sending mine to the school the night before my school's deadline . Well I'll still be applying for the year abroad, wherever I go, and I think Reading did have more places for years abroad than anywhere else I looked at...
I did visit Reading - the University was ok, I really liked the law building, but the rest of the Uni was quite new, which I don't really like, and the lectures are quite far away from the building and people said that you end up running from one to the other, and I don't really like to turn up to places, especially when I have to learn, all kerfufled...I didn't really like the town much; I only saw the high street and train station, but it didn't seem to have as much character as other places I've been and it didn't make me really want to live there. I only applied because from what I'd heard there are 4 unis which are good and offer law at AAB: Reading, Kent, UEA and Sussex, I googled them all, UEA and Sussex had horrible looking buildings, Kent is too close to where I live, so Reading won it.
I'm sure you'll get your As though and won't need to worry about it

Just do what is right for you

Yes, Oxford is the "epitome of greatness" but if you'd be happier somewhere else, don't feel pressured to go there. I got rejected from Oxford after interview and it took me a while to get over it but what I've realised is that even though Oxford (& Cambridge) are first-class, they are not the only places where you can get a first-class education and degree. Wherever you go, your success will be down to you. Who says you can't be just as successful at Nottingham? Nottingham is still in the Russell Group and their law school has a great reputation. I wish I had applied to Nottingham instead of one of my choices </3

Anyway, that's just my opinion! Good luck deciding

Aah, it's okay, it's not the end of the world

I'm going to firm King's but I'm not sure about my insurance choice yet as I'm still waiting to hear from Bristol & Warwick

No, it's certainly not. You still have amazing choices. All the best in choosing!

Ah precisely the reason I didn't apply to UEA, it isn't close-close but close enough for my parents to turn up unannounced! At least Kent has the tunnel to discourage them! Reading seemed, from the short time I spent there, quite polarised in terms of nice areas. Some areas (on the lake etc) were beautiful and undoubtedly expensive whereas other parts were run-down and too much like where I live!

I got my Birmingham offer on friday that just went. I had sent my app off on the 15th november so they did take their time lol

Canterbury's only 40 minutes from my house, so firstly I couldn't reasonably justify spending money to have my own accomodation there, and secondly I would undoubtably see my mum's friends etc. if I ever went into the town at the weekend or whatever - it wouldn't really be a new experience, just like going to school 20 minutes futher away to do some slightly harder work.
I kind of got that feeling about Reading; whilst there must have been some nice places, the rest was a lot like the town I live near now, just bigger. And it's really not a place you'd go unless you had some sort of purpose. I just want to move to a bigger town where there are more interesting things to do and people are more interested in the bigger world around them, with a library that actually contains history books! To stay too close would be too depressing

Why do you want history books?! I can't wait to never read a history book again in my life! Essex has a decent AAB law school, which specialises in Human Rights and stuff, but I really need to get out of Essex!

thanks  Its probably because I applied through the A2B scheme and I received two offers, so my offer for BHAM is AAB so i will be firming them.

Can I ask when did you take your LNAT and send your app off?

Haha, history books were only really an example of how they frequently fail me as a library; I want them to provide what I don't want to pay for and they don't :L. I very much doubt I'll be reading another history book for a long time after my A level. Unless it's by Andy Marr. I love Andy. Another example was 1984. They said they hadn't had one in for 8 years or something ridiculous; a timelessly popular novel on many an English reading list, unavailable. It makes me angry! I most definitely sympathise with wanting to leave; I really don't understand why some people I know have only applied to unis close to home so they don't have to move out.
Are you particularly interested in Human Rights etc.? That's one of the main reasons I want to study law

Yeah I'd love to spend at least some of my time doing HR work, it's one of the few 100% worthy areas of Law even if it isn't lucrative at all.
I can beat that: My local library had never heard of Anna Karenina and couldn't spell Tolstoy. Oh, and they're open for about an hour and a half every week haha
