Re: Law Applicants 2012Commiserations(Original post by MDS3)
LSE rejection today. Sent 15th Jan. Not surprised after getting shunned by King's then UCL.
Fingers crossed for QMUL
Can't say I'm surprised, congratulations!(Original post by ratio)
Offer from LSE. I actually cannot believe it. I took the Entrance Exam so I wasn't hopeful when I saw the 1.5% success rate. I can't breathe. Lots to think about. Tempted to withdraw UCL now.
I don't imagine it will matter which you put for your insurance either

Re: Law Applicants 2012It was really nice there, very scenic and traditional but like really beautiful. Everyone I met was really nice and so were the current students. The extra curricular stuff like the societies are amazing and going there today has just made my life so much harder. I found the things I dislike about Warwick, I loved about Bristol and the things I didn't like about Bristol, I loved about warwick. From the sounds of it Bristol have really good connections with lots of big firms.you should really check it out

Never mind I read your next post - I was just so surprised - to the extent that I had to immediately remark

Re: Law Applicants 2012The whole thing about what you disliked about one you liked about the other... I'm sure I'll find it the same. What did you like/dislike about each of them out of interest? Where do you think you'll end up?(Original post by ay123)

Re: Law Applicants 2012Well I love Bristol as a city,it seems really lively and I could see myself living there, whilst I'm not too sure about Coventry. However some off the accomodation at Bristol is like 40 mins walk from campus which I didn't really like the sound of. Also worried about the lack of nightlife at Warwick which Bristol deffo has but the accomodation and cost of living is Bristol is really expensive. Don't know which one to choose ATM but swaying towards Warwick but dunno yet(Original post by Bea492)

Re: Law Applicants 2012This is exactly what I thought.(Original post by ay123)

But Coventry is pretty near Birmingham, so if you want to go out - you can. -
Re: Law Applicants 2012All the things you said sound like my thoughts! To be honest though I knew what the dilemma was going to be between the Unis but I loved Warwick more than I thought. For me, Warwick's course is by far the most appealing which is why I liked but wasn't head over heels for Nottingham. I think for me, since we're all getting in 40 grand worth of debt for this, I have to go for the course. If only I could put Warwick University in Bristol! And yeah the cost of living and distance from halls to lectures concerns me. If I've got a 40 min journey, there's no way I'll be dragging myself out of bed hungover for a 9am lecture. And if you work out how much each lecture is costing you, I don't want to be missing many.(Original post by ay123)

Pretty positive I'm firming Warwick
it's Uni after all- there will be night life even if you have to look a bit further for it. Birmingham is no more than 30 mins on the train and has everything you could possibly want in a city (although granted not as pretty as Bristol).

Re: Law Applicants 2012
Hey guys, wondering if someone can help me out here. Basically i've read a lot of posts from people in other forums saying that Bristol is going downhill in reputation for law and that in a few years it wont be as prestigious as it once was. Can somebody tell me whether they think this is true or just a load of old rubbish!? I have an offer there and I'm worrying now that by the time I graduate and try and get a job, employers will be like oh..bristol :/ kinda thing? All you people with others from Bristol don't be offended I think its a great uni i just want to clarify whether this rumor has any truth!

This will have no discernible effect. These things change over glacial timespans. -
Re: Law Applicants 2012Yeah since my maintenance won't even cover my accommodation there is going to be a lot of all the above! How depressing(Original post by misslevans)
£54,000 not including credit cards, overdrafts and begging from parents...

Re: Law Applicants 2012Really!? Which halls are you thinking of applying for?(Original post by Bea492)

Re: Law Applicants 2012Not too sure yet but I think I'll go Jack Martin first choice, Rootes second. They both work out at some of the cheapest over the year as JM is a 30 week let. Its because my parents' income, I can only get £3,500 maintenance loan a year which as I said wont cover accommodation! But my parents are by no means well off! The student loan company don't consider mortgages and debts and outgoings unfortunately so I'm working to save so I can live a bit more comfortably at Uni but my parents will have to contribute a bit too. So stressful!(Original post by narusku)
Really!? Which halls are you thinking of applying for? -
Re: Law Applicants 2012What helps too is to see how Bristol is ranked for Law, on lists like the Guardians league table(Original post by bugsy12)
