The Alchymist's Cat - Robin Jarvis
I picked up the series' second book (The Oaken Throne) a couple of years back, and just found out it's actually from a series. :3 So glad I found some copies in the library. For a children's book, this book is incredibly entertaining and a very good read! -

He is good isn't he?
I'm nearly finished with The Alchymist's Cat. A lot of things have happened so I can see why it made you cry.
I've decided to read the whole of The Deptford Mice series but, I only found book 1 and 2 in my local library, so I looked at Amazon and bought the rest.
It's too good to miss. I might even buy the whole series for collection. ^^,

Re: What Book Are You Reading Now? Mk II
Reading 'Clockers' by Richard Price, recommended to me by a worker in HMV because of my love of The Wire.
It's ok so far, not great though.
I see why it has received great acclaim; it's now great and i'm really enjoying it.Last edited by damos92; 16-06-2011 at 21:51. -
Re: What Book Are You Reading Now? Mk III bought The Alchymist's Cat several years later. I'm talking like... 7 years later or something. Then I tried to read it again and decided it maybe wasn't a book you can appreciate a second time round. Still glad I have it though!(Original post by ella37)

Re: What Book Are You Reading Now? Mk IIHaha, that's about the same as me. I think I read The Oaken Throne when I was in year 8 or 9 (I'm now in university), and I've just picked it up again.(Original post by Ronove)

Really? I suppose because once you know the story, it just isn't as shocking any more. It's definitely a good book the first time you read it though! Jarvis pulled a lot of unexpected twists in there.

Going to start rereading The Oaken Throne by Robin Jarvis.

Re: What Book Are You Reading Now? Mk IIMaybe the Oaken Throne would be different but I bought The Alchymist's Cat and just found the writing to suddenly be more targeted at children than I remembered it being... though I dare say the content is still somewhat unsuitable for them!(Original post by ella37)
