Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12Awwww... sorry to hear that. Hope it went ok after your first period!(Original post by Lakhvir.Singh)
Awful day today! Got up late, missed my bus and we had a cover teacher for first period
Tonight:
- Work on ICT evaluation for project
- Comment the remaining files for my Computing project

Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12Got luck for your test and your ISA. How much harder is the ISA? I've been old that it's much harder than the EMPA which is what I'm about to do in the next 2 weeks or so.(Original post by Mocking_bird)
First day back wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. Woke up at a reasonable time without feeling too tired but... now I cant stop yawning!
Need to get some biology done, got a test tomorrow.
& Some chemistry revision for my ISA on thursday.

Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12Just finished a big A3 mind map on them all so I guess so yeah(Original post by Tullia)
Are you feeling confident? Fully revised for these topics?
And my class did worse on the 2nd Biology ISA on the whole, with people that performed way below their par being the only people to pick their marks up this time around. Apparently, the marking guidelines are very specific and so on.
Still a little bit "hmm" with surface area to volume ratio, but i'll get there.
Same goes with gaseous exchange in plants - not really sure where the marks are coming from.
Ah, I think I probably did worse on the 2nd one. But my mark was decent for the first one so I'm not too worried.
I've never seen the EMPA but I think the ISA is fair.(Original post by starfish232)

The instructions for the experiments are clear and the exam part is ok; plus you get 2 shots at ISA anyway - is it only one for EMPA or have I heard wrong?
But yeah, I think the grade boundaries for the chem isa are very high which is the only downside. -
Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12
So revision I have done today.
At college during my boring 2 and a quarter hour free:
- Made notes from Biology booklet on "Cells and Exchange"
- C2 Geometric sequences and series questions
- C2 past paper (Jan 05), didn't manage to finish but I think I did well on what I did.
At home:
- A3 mindmap consolidating the notes on "Cells and Exchange".
Still to do:
-C2 Trapezium rule practice questions.
Then i'll be drained for the day

Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12Hello, no I am doing OCR b advancing physics. How are you finding physics. You in as?(Original post by chignesh10)
You doing physics aqa b -
Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12What is it that you don't understand about SA:V? Same with plants, what is it that you're not understanding? We might as well have it out in the open, as others might be having similar problems and we could perhaps help them with it.(Original post by Mocking_bird)

And I was going to say that you did well in the 1st ISA anyway and so have no need to worry.
And it's funny you should mention this, as I was going to state that my 5pm finish today included no free periods; when I knew your day was pretty much just an awkward laze until last lesson.(Original post by Mocking_bird)

Hello, no I am doing OCR b advancing physics. How are you finding physics. You in as?
Well physics is pretty tough this year...especially as the textbook for aqa b is ****.
How are u find it? -
Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12That's good. You've been working on your ICT project for weeks!(Original post by Lakhvir.Singh)
I was really annoyed haha
It went ok afterwards though thank you
Almost done my ICT project now
How was your first day back buddy?
I'm going back tomorrow.

Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12Just what I need to mention about it really.(Original post by Tullia)

I know it depends on the question but like in BIOL1 you could get asked about.. I dunno, the digestion of food and you would have key points you would always reel off that were always in the mark scheme.
Would it just be something like..
- The larger the animal, the smaller the surface area to volume ratio.
- Large animals have specialised adaptions to maintain contant body temperature such as an elephants large ears.
- Small animals lose heat rapidly due to large SA:V so increase rate of respiration to maintain constant body temperature.
- High uptake of oxygen relative to mass
- Large food intake relative to mass.
& The same for the gaseous exchange in plants - my booklet just feels like a wall of text for that section and I'm not sure what the key points are. -
Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12LOL! I know. I haven't had a preliminary mark yet, so I don't even know if it's correct according to the marking criteria :P(Original post by 1platinum)
That's good. You've been working on your ICT project for weeks!
I'm going back tomorrow.
Oh, have a good day!

Yeah, you only get one chance and retake if you want to next year. I'm worried since I'm the type of person who panics when doing practicals and answering questions such as 'why was the test tube kept at temp X?' that 'I was told to do so.' Good luck though. I hope you do well!
In the EMPA especially CHEM they can ask you questions on all the practicals you've done in class that have no relation necessarily to the topic the EMPA's on so I have to remember all these practicals which is making me silently cry. -

Compared to last year? Gcse physics was simpler.
Is it? You could use others! I combine different physics ones too!Last edited by anonymouspie227; 16-04-2012 at 21:09. -
Re: The Magnificently Revamped Superduper Shiny Revision Thread 2011/12yeah but they base the questions on very specific things, so i need to know that particular text book inside out, but past papers are going well.(Original post by ChunkyFudgeLover101)
