How often do you think the average married couple has sex?

For something to base your answer on, we'll say they're roughly 40, been married about 10 years and have 2 children.

My parents are a couple of years older than that, have been together since they were 15 and I have to make myself every Friday or Saturday night :/

I think it also depends on the whether or not they have children, the ages of any children and how 'busy' the couple are - my parents are both teachers and are pretty busy/stressed/tired and so maybe don't have as much sex as a couple who have more 'freedom'.

Judging by my parents, who fit your criteria...somewhat. I'd say about 3 times a week... I know it's not everyday. Still, it was odd when I stumbled upon their lube and condoms o.O. And then, sometimes when I use the bathroom next to their bedroom...ugh anyway.

I don't think it's a case of "married people have x amount of sex". It really, really does depend on the individual. Some people are more randy than others. :biggrin:

My parents loosely fit that description (bit older and married longer) and, according to my dad, they have sex about once a fortnight. I really didn't want to know that but, seeing as I do, I thought I'd share it.

Maybe 2/3 times a month? My parents are always really busy and my mum often falls asleep downstairs, so I doubt they have the most active sex life in the world! :tongue:

I think it often depends on the ages of their children.

If the kids are still at school, they're probably in the house most of the time so there's not much of an opportunity for the parents to have sex.

If the children are older teens or have left home, there's more of a chance that they'll have the house to themselves every so often.

Not that they have to wait for a 'free' house to have sex, but I think a lot of couples would prefer it :smile:
