We did didn't we XD Urgh, I didn't even do geogrpahy GCSE My friend really regretted not doing going geography A-level so she's doing the AS nexy year...

Yeah ^_^ I was good at GCSE but at A-level it sounded daunting DX I'm sure your god though!

Awesome, you're doing psychology XD

Ah, yeah we apply from septemberish i think =D And yeah i wanna do english lit and i;m thinking of applying to ucl, oxford and some other places but i wanna do a psychology joint with english lit, so i'm thinking keele =O
I hope you get good grades and that you enjoy uni =D

She'll be fine, AS geography was ok, not too hard but not too easy either...

Haha thank you. I kind of like history, i wouldn't mind studying it at university either.. the only problem with it would be that i would have no idea what so ever of what to do afterwards... lol

Ahhh, yeah i would apply as early as possible and just get it out of the way!! Otherwise it'll drive you insane... Oh nice, sounds like great uni's!! Ohh if you get the chance i'd seriously consider going to visit some uni's over the summer.. i did that and then during the school year i went back and did an open say sort of thing.. i found that there were some uni's i loved the first time then went back and was like, what the hell did i like about this place?! lol
Good luck with your application! I'm sure you'll get in to wherever you want...

Thank you!

Youch, the full geography a level in a year sounds like a nightmare to me!! lol

Have a talk to your english lit teacher, or university webpages often say what students have gone on to do after taking an english lit degree... you might find some inspiration there...
Yep i want to be a psychologist, hopefully after i've done my undergraduate degree i'll be doing a graduate degree in developmental psychology.. but i'll have to just wait and see about that!

Haha, yes it was a bit of a pain. I think i drove my parents mad the way i continually changed my mind about what uni's to apply to, think they must have been so relieved once i'd applied and couldn't change my mind anymore!!
I'm sure you won't need the luck!!!

Thanks!

Lol! XD Yeah... my mother's still just annoyed I didn't do sciency subjects for a-level O.o but yeah, it will be good XD Did your history exam go okay?

Well if you do decide to do a joint degree, make sure that the psychology part of it has the graduate basis of registration from the BPS. You need that to be able to become any type of psychologist!

Ouch! I'm not a fan of the sciency subjeects to be honest, i wouldn't have minded biology or even physics, but i'm pretty sure i would have failed chemistry!!

The history exam went really well (i think!). Thanks for asking

Your very welcome!! I didn't even know about it till i mentioned to my psychology teacher that i wanted to apply to uni for psychology and she gave me this list of things i had to check for!!
Also i'm not sure how it works for a joint degree, but in a pure psychology degree you have quite a few optional units where you can sort of specialise a bit. I would look around and make sure that if you do have optional psychology units that they offer something you'd actually be really interested to study about....

I have eng lit this thursday, psychology next tuesday and then spanish next thursday!! After that i'm off for the summer
When do you break up for summer?

Maybe I shou;d talk to my teachers about it XD That would be smart...
Ohh yes modules/units... that would be good to remember as I wanna specialise in specific things... So yeah XD Thanks =DW hat are your favourite things you wanna learn?

Good luck! DX spanish shouldn't be too hard, should it? Though A2 seems challenging even if you're fluent =/ and eng lit i always find stressful and you'll be fine in Psychology ^_^

Yep, definitely talk to your teachers. They'll most likely mention something you've either never heard of or something you've completely forgotten to consider!!
Also when you write your personal statement (not sure exactly how it works at your school) but i would give it to a number of different teachers that you trust to have a look at. They'll pick up on different things that you may want to change/have another look at.
I'm interested in developmental psychology, although i wouldn't mind taking a class on Freud....

Thank you!!
Spanish wouldn't be too hard, except i never bothered to learn the written grammar properly.. i can speak in the right tense and i'm pretty much fluent.. but my writing is terrible!! So i'll just have to wait and see... lol
I agree, eng lit is stressful, too many things they can ask about and even worse it's closed text so i'm terrified of getting in to the exam and not remembering any useful quotes!!
Haha we shall hope psychology goes well!! A word of warning, research methods in unit 4 is a nightmare!! In comparison unit 3 will look easy so work as hard as you can for it... it'll boost your grade if you find unit 4 hard. I wish i had spoken to someone who'd already done A2 psychology before i did mine!!! lol

So apparently, we had to talk about Moscovicis research and all the minority influence stuff for the 12marker (we had a lesson today). Gamsons study scores 0 (apparently so from my teacher). Strange, considering all the year talked about it. I am so frustrated?
**** this.

What the hell? Okay, the question said independent behaviour, Gamson is a prime example of reseaarch into it - is your teacher an examiner or something? And besides, there are SO many ways to approach that question, and the majority of people did talk about Gamson so I really doubt it'll get 0... I'll ask my teacher tomorrow :frown:

Oh god, yes, teachers can be so scary like that but they don't mean to XD
Oh yeah, I think we're meant to shows ours to multiple teachers before we're allowed to send it ^_^ Thanks for the advice anyway =3
I wanna do Freud classes O.o He's so interesting. I always look him up in my spare time though... XD.

Really? You live there so thats to be expected... my written Spanish is pretty good, but my speaking's a fail cuz I get nervous and shiz... XD But you'll be fine =3
Yeah, our examsa re closed text so... yeah =/ We started A2 stuff, Ic an't wait to do Othello XD And ah you'll be fine! When I did the AS exam the other week, structure and legibility went out of the window for the second essay ._. I'm so worried about it.

It'll be great =D I heard research methods was a killer actually :/ But I'm sure you'll still be fine  Yeah I plan to, though for unit 3, hearing about the longessay questions did scare me DX But yeah :/ it'll be fine. what was the mental illness you studied for unit 4?

Yeah she marks PSYA2 and PSYA3 papers.....
Omg I've failed.
=(
And I know, everyone was like how does this link into independent behaviour. Oh well :frown:

One of my teachers marks them too ¬_¬ So... I will check that. I doubt you get no marks to be honest, I know that sounds cocky cuz I just did the exam and your teacher marks the actual exam, so I wouldn't know, but that study IS Independent behaviour... and EVERYONE has done that one so... to not give them marks for it will mean the grade boundaries will be very low anyway so you'll have done fine even if you DON'T get any marks for it. And plus, if that was WRONG, the question was misleading/untruthful so they'll have to mark it nicely, cuz that study is exactly what the question asked for.
Don't worry though.

Aww thanks! Please ask her!

Gamson was my MAIN research and then talked about reactance, and why they disobeyed (clearly answering the question). Wrote a pages worth of info about gamson alone. Then some other key points with mini research (around 6-7) to support my arguments.

Oh god, I was hoping for 90 and over, but now I don't think i'll scrape 80.

I will, I will - I'm just positive your teacher has got it wrong, or she read the question wrong :/ To be honest the stuff shes aida bout Moscovici...*we didn;t evens tudy him* seems less fitting.

Mine too! I wrote over two pages on Gamson and the rest on the 'mini-research' on personality factors =/ if the mini-research counts, Gamson has to... it ANSWERS the question correctly and completely like you said.

Hmm me too but don't worry about it, I'll see what my teacherss ay :3 Don't worry though, you'll do great  there's no way Gamson'l get zero, the mark scheme probably hasn't been issued yet so she wouldn't know for sure.

Aww thankyou! Yeah I think the markschemes are made when they get a sample of the papers and they have this little discussion thing! But psychology ones aren't very specific anyways!

yeah! Gamsons , then I did personality factors - like locus of control (one study - oliner and oliner and then for a mini evaluation I go there's another study which supports it (schurs), this shows.. blablabla.
Then I talked about crutchfield, desire to maintain control, desire to individuality, time for discussion. Is this enough for 6 A01 marks? I'm defo sure i won't get 6 ao2 marks as my evaluation points were quite basic.

Oh yeah i forgot.. just wanna see what you got for the evaluation of gamsons.
I talked about

- Vounteer sample - newspapers - only the people who read newspapers will opt to take part in experiment. Thus it lacks population validity and you cant generalise the results
- Not done in a lab, so the variables aren't controlled, thus extraneous variables will be present. Because the variables aren't controlled, it isn't replicable and therefore reliable. No cause and effect relationship can be established.
- Ethical issues - participants being very stressed/deception/etc...
- Hard to seperate out what caused them to disobey - may be the embarrasment of appearing on film in court - individual differences
+High levels of realism - has high ecological validity as it isn't done in a lab
+High levels of internal validity - tests what it wanted to test etc.

^ For gamsons.

Then some others, i.e. crutchfield talked about those who don't conform have low IQs..... AO2 -IQ tests are subjective and can be hard to test.. etc
Desire to maintain control - a study had a large sample size (10,000) so you cant replicate it. high in population validity. Desire to maintain control scale, again subjective.
Locus of control - Schurz acts as empirical support for Oliner and Oliner - therefore this theory is highly accepted....continuity hypothesis etc..

That's it...

Sorry I was gonna ask my teacher but SHE WASN'T IN TODAY!!! So sorry :frown: And the stuff you put for A01 seems enough for 6 for me, it's basically what I wrote....

Ah, yes, I put those, volunteer sample, more keen to help unrepresentative blah, actually I think you had more than me XD You've put a LOT for evaluation for Gamson, don't worry!
Ah yes, those are all right =3 And what we had in our notes. Seriously, don't worry, it sounds like you've included everything you needed too, what your teacher said just must have scazred you, but I doubt she's right/...
