Re: What to do when people keep hassling me about getting a tan? There's a difference to having a tan and having a bit of colour to your skin...(Original post by Marcos the great)
I don't see how I'm looking "ill" if it's my natural colour. So, do you want everyone to walk around with tanned skin?
Pale/white skin looks unhealthy IMO. -

You should load yourself with knowledge of the effects of having a tan , so when someone says that stuff to you, you can feel smug in the knowledge that you know you are taking care of yourself.
Have you ever seen old people, that are permanently tanned, have loads of freckles everywhere and are really wrinkly? Thats because of years of exposing themselves to the sun, it makes their skin sag, and wrinkle because the skin hardly has any collagen left to give it any sort of definition or shape. The freckles and sun spots are signs of damage, not something that is brought out in the sun and fades away in the winter.. and the darker the tan, the harder your skin has tried to prevent UV rays from damaging the epidermis layer of skin.
I'd prefer to have the skin colour I'm supposed to have, why anyone would want to change their skin colour for beauty reasons which causes your body to have to work extra hard to combat all the bad effects you throw at it is beyond me. Same principle goes for binge eating smoking , drinking and drugs really.
