Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryNot really...Critical Thinking A-level isn't accepted by most unis. Although, by all means do it if you are interesting in it. But it has no direct link to Actuarial science. Also what context you mean "a worthy subject"? Do you mean as a 4th/5th A-level?(Original post by maliksajwani)
Is Critical Thinking a worthy Subject if opting for Actuarial Sciences at LSE. I mean if I have an interest in that subject then? -
Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryseriously there's no benefit of critical thinking. its tedious as. and its an LSE black listed subject aswell iirc(Original post by maliksajwani)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryI am opting for Maths, Further Maths, Economics and physics, but I am also looking for taking a 5th subject thats why I asked for Critical Thinking but if it is black listed than what other subject do you prefer which is linked with my course.(Original post by zxh800)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryThe four you've chosen look fine to me. Actuarial Science is very mathematical and your choices seem an appropriate mix. You should be fine with just those if you do well. But, if you really want to do a 5th A-level (remember there's a risk the added workload will bring the other grades down, better to have AAAA then AAABB), any traditional subject will be fine really. Maybe another essay subject like History or Geography? But, imo I would just stick with the four. I had History myself instead of Physics and hold an offer for Maths and Econ.(Original post by maliksajwani)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryWell four a-levels are fine. I'm currently doing those subjects at A2 and holding an offer for Economics. (also had english literature at AS).(Original post by maliksajwani)

Like zxh800 said choose whatever subject you want tbh. Having full Further Maths puts you in a very good position tbh. good luck. -

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entry
Hi everyone, I have an offer for MSc programme for 2012 entry at LSE. I am from India and need little guidance on the visa application process
I have my CAS statement, but a few clarifications on the points below would be of help:
1. Documents (on the basis of which CAS was issued): I just have a provisional degree with me, as the original is not yet submitted, so I am planning to send sealed transcripts (obviously can't enclose its photocopy) along with originals and photocopies of my provisional degree and consolidated marksheet (which has all the points of a transcript).. Will it be okay?
2. My parents will be funding my education, but my birth certificate does not have my name (yes, in India a child's name is decided months after its birth during a series of social gatherings
). However, in India, a certificate issued after class 10 by the Central Education Board providing date of birth and parents' name, and is considered equivalent to a birth certificate (that's what i used to obtain a passport) So can I use my 10th certificate, or do I need to get a birth certificate made, which would mean waiting of another month
Or is it possible that all the money required can be transferred to my bank account and I can show it as my own (but it can raise numerous questions I am afraid)
3. I have been offered a place at the Butler's Wharf costing approx 123 Pounds a week for a 50 week contract (Its a very very small room approx 3.5 miles away from LSE). Can I get a better and/or cheaper place to stay, or should I accept the accommodation offer?
I know the post is quite long, but a prompt reply would really be helpful... Thanks

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entry
Sorry, i think ive posted this somewhere else aswell but im not sure (im new to tsr) :/ I just wanted to know what is the likelihood of LSE accepting me for my course even if I miss my offer. I applied for social policy with government and I had an offer of AAB, however due to mitigating circumstances I feel I may get ABB. I am going to send medical certificates to them soon. Also if it helps, I am taking Biology, Chemistry and Maths and feel I may get the B in maths. Thanks for your help in advance!

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryHey there, I too am on a reserve list, only that its for MSc IR. Tried to get an answer from admissions about my chances but the only thing they say is what's on my LSE for You page, that I'll find out by mid to late August. A lot of people have told me that its possible that I find out before August coz people with conditional offers may not be able to fulfill the conditions, or take a job after graduation instead of doing postgrad, or just may not be able to afford the cost of attending and hence withdraw. I'm on pins and needles because I'm in the US and classes here start around late Aug-early September, so if I don't get an answer by early August, I'll just have to goto school here in the US. Best of luck.(Original post by titi1)
Hey Guys! Im on the "reserve list" for MPA international development.. any ideas on what my chances are of getting an offer? please help!! the wait is killing me. -
Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryI'm not positive about this but I think you could apply for a 2013 entry. If you do get an offer IMO it would be conditional on your A-level results/GPA.(Original post by VoVaN37)
I have a question about MSc.
I want to apply to LSE for MSc Finance in 2013, but next year I finish BA in September and in October I get my diploma. So will it be possible for me to study in 2013 or I need to wait for the entry in 2014???
