Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryLSE loves if you do accelerated Maths! I think doing that helped me most in getting my offer!(Original post by maliksajwani)
If I Opt. for Accelerated Mathematics instead of Mathematics would there be any problem in getting into LSE? -

For people how now have unconditional offers -
Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryI would say that they are acceptable AS results; I had AABB for instance.(Original post by Defragmentation)
Hey guys,
Would any of you still recommend applying to LSE with AAAB with at AS with an A*A*A predictions for Law, as I've heard LSE are extremely interested in achieving 4As at AS? -
Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryThat sounds fine. I think it will depend in part on your GCSE's (if applicable) and, more importantly, how good your personal statement is. From my group, an interesting ps seemed decisive amongst those with generally good grades. Law at LSE is definitely oversubscribed so try not to get your hopes too high but give it your best - one B isn't a death sentence.(Original post by Defragmentation)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entry10A*s and an A at GCSE. Are you aware of anyone with a B that got an offer aha? I'm dropping the B, and it was two UMS of an A, so hopefully it should go up in the remark but I'm preparing for the worst case scenario.(Original post by ratio)

Yeah, it's frustrating that LSE doesn't interview or use the LNAT in my opinion because they have very little to judge on and they'd probably be looking for any reason to reject, and I guess a B may be enough. -
Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryThanks, it's good to know that they aren't as harsh as they have a reputation for aha.(Original post by TheMeister)

I think I may still apply, it is only 1 choice out of 5, and hopefully I'll get some offers, so a rejection won't sting that much :P -
Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryProvided you get full A's at AS, the b should not be a problem. The Admissions men would have to be retarded to hold it against you, seeing as you got 10 a* in that session. Don't worry.(Original post by Defragmentation)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryWhen I went to the Law Visit Day for accepted students, I met at least one person fretting over achieving the A* as they had one B. I'm aware of someone who had a C and got an offer (albeit for Politics not Law).(Original post by Defragmentation)

You seem like a good candidate so I'd say your efforts are better spent writing a compelling personal statement and focusing on other parts of your application that are still within your control. Pick your options to play to your strengths (e.g LNAT if it's one of them), LSE is only one option of a few great ones for law. Good luck with the remark and UCAS in general!Last edited by ratio; 17-08-2012 at 08:32. -
Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryNaww, I did my GCSEs last year. This year I got AAAB, was wondering whether the B would be a problem.(Original post by lubus)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryAhhh sorry i must have misread. Well a B in AS is ... sub optimal. From personal experience, LSE dont like B's (although i had a fair share more than you... infact ABBBB). They rejected me on the basis that my results wernt good enough, even though i had predicted AAA (which i didnt get in the end xD got into my firm tho so alls good). I dont know wheather you should retake it, since your offer is only 3 subjects and it wont make a difference on you application(Original post by Defragmentation)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryHey man I got AAAB too B in chemistry. If I am carrying on with four A-level, would that B in science affect me much? I mean Chemistry has nothing to do with Econ. Plus I would like to drop Chemistry but LSE only see Further Maths as a fourth A-level so I have to keep Chemistry. Whats your opinion on that? Thanks man(Original post by lubus)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryI found this weird so i went on their site(Original post by ryanboi)

I guess they can do this because its Economics at LSE. what that basically means is you need to do 4 subjects including FM to get in. Personally i dont see how chemistry will give you anything useful later in your career, or teach you anything (apart from how to learn **** you dont care about)A level Mathematics is required. A level Economics is not essential. Further Mathematics taken at A level is strongly preferred and is seen as an additional or fourth subject. Thus a combination of Mathematics, Further Mathematics and one other subject is not seen as providing the required breadth of knowledge and skills. No other specific subjects are required at A level, but we prefer traditional academic subjects to subjects such as Communication Studies, Accounting, Business Studies or Media Studies.
Well, you need to remember there will be candidates with a full set of A's. Thats all there is to it. You can make yourself more attractive with a better PS, but if LSE are looking for an easy way to filter better candidates that B will come into play. It doesn't mean that you cant get in, but LSE economics is extremely competitive (prolly one of the most competitive courses in europe id say), so it will definitely affect your chances. Still, apply by all means, you might get lucky

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryahh Chemistry is let me down !! lol Thanks for the help ! Do you think Maths and Econ at LSE same competitiveness?(Original post by lubus)

Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entry
Looking to study Law, as its such a competitive course and the standard offer is A*AA, are my grades good enough to get me considered ?
GCSE grades are: 6A*, 3A, 2B, 1 Distinction
AS grades: 5A, 1B
History (96%)
Economics (92%)
German (86%)
Classical Civilisation (81%)
Critical Thinking (80%)
Religious Studies: Philosophy and Ethics (75%)
likely A2 predictions A*, A*, A, A -
Re: LSE Applicants for 2012 entryYou know Acc. Math is Burden!! If I score a 'A' in Acc.Math but LSE demand A* for economics so can thay give me chance if I retake that paper and score an A*(Original post by Sashari)
