Re: How Many Countries Have You Been To?By far the best school trip I ever did! Also one of my favourite countries, too. Reykjavik is quite nice, but VERY small - it's like a medium-sized town, you wouldn't need more than half a day there. I can't believe I was only there for 5 days, because we did much, but if recommending for someone going: Swimming in the blue lagoon is AMAZING, obviously you have to see the geysers at Geysir, biggest waterfall in europe at Gullfoss is quite special, and we also took a trip to Heimaey in the Vestmannaeyjar Islands to see Eldfell, the big volcano that erupted there, which was bleak and remote but beautiful. Flying there on a tiny plane was fun, too. Oh, and standing in between Europe and America in the Thingvellir Rift Valley was quite fun too. Hmm...I hadn't intended this to be quite so long....can't recommend Iceland highly enough..DEFINITELY returning someday! The people were lovely too.(Original post by un-besito)
It was lovely! I went on a Geography fieldtrip and I'm so glad I did because I don't think I ever would have gone, otherwise...not one you'd just choose to go on holiday to. Well, not one that I would. There is plenty to see, but you'd only be interested in what we saw if you're interested in geography/landscape, we didn't really get much time to explore Reykjavik (capital city) which I would have liked... -

I loved it too, probably realised just how much fun it was when back in England, though. We only had 3 days so were shattered by the end (and during) of it...I must say, I've never seen so much green in one place, on the coach going from one place to the next seemed like one massive stretch of it...everytime I looked out of the window it was exactly the same! I'm really not sure why Iceland is so green while Greenland is so icy

Re: How Many Countries Have You Been To?Wow that is a REALLY short trip, must have been exhausting! We went at the end of October, so there was actually a foot of snow on the ground and I didn't see any green for the entire week(Original post by un-besito)
We did these things!

our coach had snow chains on, and we struggled to get to some places...it was an incredibly bleak landscape, just snow and rock as far as you could see. Also, end of October is the best time to see the Northern Lights; they were just amazing! & hehe fair point...though southern greenland is often quite green, so it's only partly true I fear

Re: How Many Countries Have You Been To?
Who was declared the winner? Did anyone manage Andorra, Lichtenstein, Vatican City and all of the rest of the world's 17 smallest countries? I personally wouldn't regard any dedicated traveller as truly in pursuit of their craft if they had not at least visited Tuvalu.

Re: How Many Countries Have You Been To?It was! We went in March...if we had gone a couple of days later/stayed a few more days we would have been stuck there thanks to the ash cloud! I definitely agree about the landscape being bleak, personally I would have found the snow much more pleasant to stare at for an hour than all the rolling greenery...each to their own(Original post by Vinchenko)

Unfortunately, we didn't see the northern lights...as much as I enjoyed it, I don't think I'd go back there. It was great as a fieldtrip and very educational, but not somewhere I'd choose to revisit for a holiday. Fair enough, I google imaged southern Greendland and you do have a point. Thanks for that

Re: How Many Countries Have You Been To?Mostly in Europe, but I've been to most of the continents at least once(Original post by MancStudent098)
Which ones, not that I expect you to list every one but have they mostly been in certain regions?
(yes, I'm a bit spoilt when it comes to traveling)
And I've got time, so here's the list, in more or less alphabetical order
Africa: Egypt, Morocco, South Africa
Asia: Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam
Oceania/Australia: Australia
Europe: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, the Netherlands (live there), Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, Vatican City (if that counts)
North America: Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, USA (lived there)
South America: Argentina
EDIT: damn, my spelling sucks
