    Wimbledon 2011 Predictions
Seeing there's a poll for the men's side, I wanted to make one for the women's side and as Venus and Serena seem to be making their comebacks at Eastbourne, I think it'll make Wimbledon much more exciting than AO and FO this year.

I predict a Williams' final with Serena coming on top

I can't see Li Na winning at Wimbledon. Tough one to call for the women it's so open. I'd like to say Murray will finally win the men's but I think he will reach the final and get beaten most likely by Nadal assuming they're on different sides of the draw. But luck could be on his side and Murray's getting better with every season/tournament so I think we (British tennis fans) have every reason to be excited.

Whilst I don't follow womens' tennis a lot, it seems to follow a consistent pattern - one woman demonstrates notable or outstanding form and skill in the preceding tournaments, only to lose in the fourth round, drop out of the top ten and never be heard from again. The only prediction I would feel comfortable making is that it won't be won by Li Na or Caroline Wozniacki.

True I guess with the Williams sisters' back in the game, especially with their comeback in 2007. Nah I think Federer will win it cause he's hungry for another slam and naturally grass is his territory.

I was under the impression one of the sisters is unlikely to participate at Wimbledon because of recent, and serious, surgery?

There is little to no chance there will be a Williams sisters final. Both don't seem to have featured much on the WTA this year..

I am a big fan of Maria Sharapova and Roger federer. I hope they win the women's and men's title respectively. Sharapove seems to be a little out of touch if you ask me. Too many unforced errors.

Don't like Sharapova. Always hoping she loses her matches.

If she actually managed to STFU and not break my eardrums whilst playing, maybe then I wouldn't mind watching her, and even supporting her in her matches now and then.

The same applies for Azarenka (sic). The girl needs to seriously pipe the f**k down. It's not good for spectators and it's not fair for the opposition to have to put up with all the noise, which is unnecessary and illegal ffs. Something officials should be clamping down on.

They are both playing at eastbourne, which is before Wimbledon. I think they will be in the final (at least one of them) especially serena cause she said on twitter that she wanted to get back on court and lift trophies, etc. Besides I'm sure wimbledon finals have at least 1 williams sister since venus' first win, except for 2006.

And yeah about your other post on sharapova and azarenka. They should just stfu cause it is so annoying!

I just have the strong feeling that the Williams sisters feel they've achieved all they want/need to achieve in tennis and they have aspirations elsewhere.

Still, if they want to get their s**t together and win Wimbledon, they can do this comfortably. That's how gifted these two are. They can have long periods out of the WTA schedule, come back and make an instant impression and win something instantly.

They are, IMO, still head and shoulders above the rest - that is, when they have a good degree of commitment to the sport and decide they feel like winning something major once again.

Sharapova i predict, however you can not rule out Ivanovic, she does well on the grass court along with Safina, its about time they both come to form, predict a shock.

You can rule out Ivanovic and Sharapova, IMO.

You can most certainly rule out Safina given that she's taking an indefinite break from tennis and therefore isn't currently playing any kind of competitive tennis or for the foreseeable.

    Re: Wimbledon 2011 Predictions
Sharapova is and has been the most overrated player in the WTA for quite some years now. So shes out of the equation immediately.

The Williams Sisters are a tempting option, and are, when healthy by far the best and most consistent players in the WTA. But both are just making their comebacks after months out. I just cant see either getting to the final. Especially since i dont think that the motivation to play is there as much anymore, as the they both know that if they really tried they could win comfortably.

Clijsters is the best option on the poll IMO. She and the Williams sisters are by far the best and most consistent players in the game. If they played more regulary, they would be the top seeds. If Clijsters is fully fit, she is my pick.

They are by a mile better than other players in the game right now. You saw that both with Henin and Clijsters; the first slam Henin came back for she reached the final, and only lost to Serena. Clijsters won the US open in her first year back. The womens game is in such a poor state right now, and has been for a few years now. Ever since that sudden influx of Eastern Europeans, the womens game has gone downhill IMO

    Bring back Justine Henin.

Other than that Kim, Sharapova perhaps or the Williams.

Obviously they haven't played for a year, but the fact they can even be considered favourites just shows how shallow the women's game is.

I understand why people can find them boring when they are thrashing someone. But in a tough match, they are actually good to watch. I remember seeing Venus play Henin, at the US Open in 2007 I think it was. Actually shows that women's tennis is worth watching sometimes.

I do respect her backhand, but she'll never win wimbledon again especially with her injuries. Besides she had her chances in 2006 and with serena back in the game, she'll get her ass thrashed like in 2003.

If you followed tennis you'd realise that Justine Henin retired back in January.

I knew that hence why I said about her injuries, but you'd never know if she would come back again...

I genuinely think Henin would have won Wimbledon last year- she was dominating her match against Clijsters but got that elbow injury which ultimately ended her career.

    Henin's retired for good now.
