Heyy, i've just done this exam also! I felt I did okay, I was surprised with question 1 because that was very similar to one of last year's questions I felt.
Anyway, yeahh I did question 1 and question 3 I felt that question 3 was quite tough, because it covered the long period and there was so much information to include I just ended up waffling about everything during that period =/
I was pretty sure detente would have come up also! I tried to make it relevent in my third question.. But other than that happy with how it went
Which questions did you do, and what did you include?

Hey, i'm mainly revising from the aqa text book. Got through most of it just got UN and EU to go which is exciting...

How long are your 45 markers? I'm currently doing 2.5 sides with quite small writing yet my teacher said I would be getting A's except that I can only get a C because my essay isn't long enough therefore sustained.

I'm trying to revise for this at the minute, i'm basically just reading the book. Think i will move onto planning and writing a few more practise essays at some points but i really need to get my head around the facts first before i bother trying to write any more essays i think.

Hi I read certain parts and then write essays for that bit.

Sent an email to my teacher who may look at his emails, if he does ill post back what he says about the EU question.

same here. its also hard to predict because there are only two or three past papers for this syllabus iirc. quite annoying lol.

do you have any idea as to what thh grade boundaries usually are?

Mine believe that Detente will come up as it has not been featured very often, and probably the first bit of the book as it always seems to come up apparently!

I believe 31 out of 45 is an A so not very high! My teacher told me to set out the themes and put the argument before the detail and use the detail to back up the argument. Obviously be synoptic as you do so.

Ive just finished making notes on the aqa text book, and will be practising questions! Went to a revision session today at college, and it was quite useful. He was telling us that we should be writing 6 pages for each 45 mark question which I guess is for those who want the highest marks. But I only write about 3/4 pages which I guess is reasonable
I think Im just going to practice essays from the past papers, but if anyone has anymore, please share, as I need as much help as I can get
Btw I noticed someone said something about a 2012 jan paper, this course only does exams in june
    Good luck

There is no way you can write 6 pages in 45 minutes! In mock tests I have been writing 3 and a half pages and been getting A's quite easily! No way do you need to write 6 pages!

I think the main points are to have good themes, put the argument first and always back it up and be synoptic. Also think outside of the box while revising as the book is not great for synoptic links so as you are reading through think what you can link to it.

There is lots to talk about it Detente, one theme could be wars (Arab israeli war, Angola, Afghanistan), another theme could be summits such as the moscow summit in which the basic principles were made (this could be linked to the problems in Angola as the basic principles were not law). There is plenty to talk about...
Not got any questions on me howere, sorry.

    causes of detente,
"The fundamental issues dividing the superpowers remained unaltered throughout detente"
was detente "limited and short lived"?
    why did detente end?
