Re: Help! Bf punched my best friend
Yikes OP
Just talk to your boyfriend about what he did, explain that 'M' is your best friend and theres nothing going on between the pair of you. And next time you're out, make it clear to 'M' that he can't be touchy feely with you anymore, as much as i'm sure he means it harmlessly, if you knew it was bothering your bf you should have stopped it in the first place and not let it carry on to the point where your bf punched someone! He's only being protective of you (doesn't excuse punching him though of course)

Re: Help! Bf punched my best friend
Firstly, I'm sooo tired of seeing males on here replying to threads like this with ridiculous responses. "And he is your bf why? lollololol" > probably because he's generally a better person than you are and is able to get a girlfriend for a start lol. Clearly your understanding of a relationship does not go past the point of the 'Health and Relationships' tab on this forum.
Secondly, it doesn't sound like your boyfriend has a short fuse at all. It sounds to me like he has let this other guy continue to flirt with you and get touchy feely with you to the point where it's completely insulting to him as your boyfriend. To be honest even if the other guy was gay I wouldn't really like it. Why do gay or bisexual guys get some free pass to touch a girl over or even see a girl naked? If his best friend was some hot bisexual russian dancer, who just happened to be a little 'out there' and 'touchy-feely' would you like him dancing with her in front of all of your friends? No. Lol. -
Re: Help! Bf punched my best friend
Your boyfriend should have punched him more than once. Simple fact is, you don't get touchy feely with some other guy's girlfriend, especially when you know it's annoying them. Sounds like he was asking for it, if I'm honest. Also, your friends are obviously going to side with this 'M' guy because they're friends with him not your boyfriend. Seemingly, both you and your friends are looking at it from the perspective that M's behaviour was harmless, when your boyfriend clearly didn't think it was. You knew he didn't like M and you knew they way he felt about M's behaviour so if anything, you've no one to blame but yourself for not telling M to back the **** up. I can't imagine you or your friends for that matter (who I imagine would suddenly become overly moralistic) would take so kindly to your boyfriend getting touchy feely with some girl, who then tells you to go home.

Re: Help! Bf punched my best friendI think you boyfriend is completely in the right! How would you like it if a girl was all over your boyfriend and vying (spl?) for his affection? Think about it.

Re: Help! Bf punched my best friendDon't get me wrong, I don't agree with what your boyfriend has done but, 'M' was asking for it. ANY Man would get angry if another person starts to get touchy with their girl...then tell the boyfriend to go home, and tell him that he'll walk his girlfriend home.(Original post by Anonymous)
My bf hates my best friend M who happens to be a boy and bisexual.
Bf and i went out together with my my friends to celebrate the end of our exams. We had a few drinks and bf found some of his friends there and got talking.
I went to dance with friends on the dance floor. I've known M for roughly 2 years and he is very touchy feely with everyone and he doesnt mean any harm by it he is very friendly. M comes dancing with me and 3 other girls. He starts hugging me putting his arms around me and singing loudly. M is known for his big funny personality.
I catch my bf and his mates looking and he calls me over to meet them, I go over to say hi. Later bf asks me wtf i'm playing at with M he was all over me. I decide not to go back to the dancefloor.
5 mins later M a little drunk now comes and proceeds to drag bf and me to the dance floor, bf isn't in the mood to dance so i go and mouth 5 mins to my bf. M gets touchy feely again with me and & other girls, with his arm around my waist. This is normal when we go out my bf trusts me 100% & continues to hate M.
Next my bf walks up to us and tells me we're going home, M asks my bf 'already?' and tells bf to go home and he'll walk me back. Bf gets a little impatient and tells M to not tell him what to do& to take his hands of me. Bf pulls me to one side argues I made him look like a mug in front of his mates, I came out with him so i should stay with him. We've had arguments like this before it boiling down to him not liking M.
Bf tells me to *** off if I walk back with M. I go over to say bye to M and the others. M thinks im upset, goes to confront my bf about not liking him resulting in M pushing and my bf punching him.
Iv not seen either of them since. I dont know what to do friends have turned agaisnt my bf I love him a lot we've been together for a year. I need some quick advice. -

Re: Help! Bf punched my best friend
If M was acting normally then what is wrong? I don't even see what is wrong with hands around the waist etc. It's hardly "all over". I think your boyfriend is overreacting and well a bit of a dick in this scenario. It comes down to whether you are prepared to change your friendship with M for your boyfriend.
Personally I'd tell the boyfriend he needs to accept my friendship with both my male and female friends and respect them or jog on.
It still comes down to trusting your girlfriend. I have lots of close male best friends, I would not change my relationship with them for my boyfriend. If I tell my boyfriend we are friends -- that isn't something that should be questioned. Being concerned isn't about not trusting other people when your girlfriend is drunk, it says you don't trust your girlfriends friendships or relationship with her friends as well as not trusting her. Likely scenario is her friendships are closer than your relationship.(Original post by AskMeAnything)
Trust me - from experience I would be EXTREMELY WARY if my girlfriend had a 'male best friend' if they weren't gay, and slightly even if they were. I know people who have had platonic 'best-friend' relationships with girls for years but the second they get out of long term relationships they are on it like a car bonnet.
The 'male best friend' is actually one of the worst things a girl can have if your her boyfriend. Trust doesn't come into it - I trust my girlfriend completely but that doesn't mean I trust other people to not take advantage if she was very drunk.
And if my boyfriend was dancing with his female best friend, whether she was gay/straight/bi and he had his arm around her/etc, he told me they were friends then I accept and trust that they are friends. I wouldn't be with someone whose actions and words I didn't feel I could trust.Last edited by lekky; 10-06-2011 at 16:43.
