Hopefully grade boundaries will be similar to Jan 2011 or lower.

Hoping Mr M will be able to do a markscheme this evening.

Need to smash core 4 now...

Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week..

    Just ****ed up the paper...
I need an A* to go to uni next year..

Since my best C3 mark was 78, Im wondering if its possible to get an A* by getting 96% in C4 and M1...
Cause I heard that you can have c3/4 + applied module for maths a2???
    I'm pretty sure it's over 90% in C3 and C4 only
But good luck though - I'm sure you did much better than you think you did!

It may depend what uni it is though, because they may be more lenient if you miss the grade but do really well in M1

That would only count if you got 96% in M2, D2 or S2. As M1 is technically an AS module, it won't count towards the A*, even if you've done S1 or D1 as well.
So you have to average out 90% in C3 and C4. Sorry, I hope you've done better than you think.

Hey guys, thought it was a tough exam!

After I got out spoke to a teacher, his answers:

    1: 3e^2x+1 + c
    5ln(2x+1) + c

    2: y = ln(4/x^3)

    3: a) cosa = 3/14 b) secB = -3/2

4: i) Sketched two graphs, meet at two points.
    ii) x=0
    iii) x=4.118

    5: d2y/dx2 = 96/25 + 2ln5

    6: 5/9 * 5^0.5

    7: i) x=1/3 ii) (x-20)/9
    iii) x=0

    8 i) -10
    ii) c = 16/3 k = 0.061
    iii) 27.4

    9 i) tana
    ii) (-4root3)/9
    iii) theta = tan^-1(K)/6

He's a good teacher but not sure if these are all correct, verification?

Yeh they sound pretty familiar to what I got, thats a relief.

For 7iii) I got X=0 and X=-1 and it did imply there was more than one solution...

So the consensus seems to be that this was a really difficult paper! The trig was a bit brutal and the long questions were a bit but at least they didn't give us any of the really weird functions questions!

Anyone have a pdf of the paper?

    Don't worry
After that paper I'm almost certain I missed my grades to get into uni.
I seriously screwed it up so badly - even the easier questions I realised I got wrong.
The harder I mostly guessed at them, and quite a lot of the paper I left out to go back to at the end and then ran out of time - it was not good

Same here, because you added the modulus to get 0 right?

is any one else wondering how they offered 4 marks for the iterative question (answer 4.118)? considering they didnt ask you to show the result after each iteration, just for the answer. mind im not complaining, i found that question really easy so free maks? go ahead!

rest of the paper made me want to die though.

The only way for me to get into uni is to hope that I got 80% in this paper and 100% for c4
or getting an A* in physics which is pretty much impossible...
