yh is do too, but on some days I don't

i only believe in that because on those days in India, some family members have "special" religious ceremonies and for that we stay vegetarians

That's what I mean, that's the kinda practice which the Gurus rejected and frowned upon, those are defo the kinda things you should question

A good example I like to always use is the story of Guru Nanak and the Hindu priests in the river. The priests were throwing water upwards towards the sun, and when the Guru asked them why they were doing it, they said "to please our ancestors who are in the Sun" or something along those lines. Guru Nanak, upon hearing this, started chucking water in a particular direction.
They asked him what he was doing, and he replied "I'm watering my fields". They told him to stop being stupid - how could the water possibly reach his fields? To which he replied - well, if your water can reach the sun, mine can definitely reach my fields!

The point of the story was to not blindly do certain actions and to question everyone and everything. I know it's very easy just to go along with it because it's what everyone else does, but as Sikhs we gotta take a stand against pointless ritual and make up our own minds on what to do and why we should/shouldn't do them
