Re: Cambridge? No thanks, it hasn't got a music scene: What 17-year-old rapper told tThere is certainly no requirement to have more than three A levels from schools that do not usually offer more than 3 A levels.(Original post by Silent-Varjoisa)
How on earth did he get in with only three A-levels two of those blacklisted subjects. Also why on earth did he apply if he wasn't intending on taking the offer?
He did not have two less favoured subjects. English Literature is listed as a keystone subject and sociology is listed as a useful preparation for some of Cambridge's arts and social science courses. -

Cambridge beats Oxford in almost everything, shame about the music scene being better at Cam (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but as a Radiohead fanboy such a view is inevitable). My comment has nothing to do with the article cos the article is rubbish.

Re: Cambridge? No thanks, it hasn't got a music scene: What 17-year-old rapper told tThat is a list of subjects for Trinity College. There is nothing in the story to suggest that he was offered a place at Trinity.(Original post by Silent-Varjoisa)

This guy was actually in my form class when I was in Secondary school. I did laugh when reading the article cause I can imagine him saying that. Also I think its more that he feels more comfortable in London than just the music scene.

Re: Cambridge? No thanks, it hasn't got a music scene: What 17-year-old rapper told tYes but they rarely have a record to sell, so they rarely have PR people set up an interview with the Daily Mail.(Original post by ben-smith)
Don't people turn down Cambridge in favour of LSE all the time?
(By which I mean, surely it is not unheard of?) -
Re: Cambridge? No thanks, it hasn't got a music scene: What 17-year-old rapper told t
Not that i count rap as music in any way but...if cambridge doesn't have a music scene then why not go there and start one up or at least put up without it for the sake of his education.
Edit: negged for not thinking rap is music? Nobody sings and no real instruments are used...point out where i was wrongLast edited by gm15; 15-06-2011 at 20:57. -

To be fair, he may have never visited Cambridge. I'm considering applying, and if I was lucky enough to get an interview, but hated the place, I'd probably reach a similar conclusion.
In order to get an offer, you need to have an interview, i.e. actually GO THERE.

Not gonna lie when I say I'm zealous however I do feel that this guy's a joke. The fact that he's wearing a pair of Beats by Dre (to me) shows that he lacks the individuality and true-personality for Oxford. I popped down to Oxford last week to speak to a medic; they're one a kind.
Could it be that Cambridge saw the token-ness in him and it was something he didn't like as opposed to him being a true academic scholar studying three "soft subjects"... -
Re: Cambridge? No thanks, it hasn't got a music scene: What 17-year-old rapper told tHe's going to LSE, it's hardly going to affect him much. He has 5 choices, so I think it's reasonable to aim high. I'm sure if he hadn't got into LSE, he'd be firming Cambridge.(Original post by im so academic)
Retard. If you don't like Cambridge in the first place, don't ****ing apply to it.
Arrogant bastard. Offending Cambridge like that. They provide him with an opportunity and he essentially is saying "**** you" to them?
How dare he.
Meh, Cambridge would be better off with that prick.
I don't see what this has got to do with what I said. He may have gone for the interview, and not liked it? He couldn't then just say 'sorry I've made a mistake, I don't want to be interviewed' Do you understand that?(Original post by im so academic)

Obviously, though he should have researched the location of the university prior to applying, however he did say LSE was always his first choice.

What are you implying? I was under the impression that PPS was a highly respected degree, and one of the more competitive courses at Cambridge.
EDIT: English Literature isn't 'soft' if you were referring to his A-Levels.
i'm in A2, just got exams
